Tender Barbecued Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
Overall, good flavor, and couldn't be easier to make for this cooking-impaired mom of 3 little kids. I omitted the onions (I don't tolerate them) and used boneless tenders, all we had in the house. My daughter and I liked it, my sons didn't (but they're 4 and 2) and my husband wasn't a fan, he thought it was too dry, he only likes chicken in the crock pot when it's dark meat. So I will try again some day when we have other cuts. But it's a great flavor, easy to make, and the kids did like the idea that their dinner had "soda" in it! :-)

Watermelon Milkshake

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
My 2 boys, ages 3 and 4, loved it, and even my 4-year-old daughter, who never likes my smoothies, loved it! I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is very thin. I would love to try it with frozen melon next time, or add some yogurt, and see if that makes it better. Also, I added a splash of vanilla extract, which gave it a bit of an "ice cream" flavor that my 3 kids liked. Come to think of it, I might have to freeze a whole lot of watermelon chunks to get us through the winter, if it means they'll drink this smoothie with breakfast to get them all additional servings of fruit and calcium!! I am most impressed that Picky Daughter just slurped her cup empty, asked for seconds, and asked if we can have it every day!!

Seminary Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
Yum! My 3 little kids loved these - we made 12 yesterday morning, and there are now ZERO left! I left out the chocolate chips and nuts, added about a cup of raisins instead. I look forward to trying other additions in the future - flax meal, wheat flour, cranberries, even the chocolate chips - but I am not a great cook, so wanted to (mostly) follow the recipe as-is for my first time. These will make a GREAT (can't even tell they are so healthy!) "treat" to bring for snack at my kids' preschool!! I just used a nonstick muffin pan sprayed with Pam, no paper liners, and found them not too hard to get out of the pan. For those who had problems with the paper liners and don't want "naked" muffins, perhaps use only the foil part of the liner, and give it a little spray or buttering before putting the batter in. Yum yum yum!!!

Momma's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
Well, one of my 3 kids ate it, one sampled it here and there, and one had to be forced through tears to take the mandatory three bites. Hubby and I liked it OK. We served it with homemade bread, baked tater tots, and some celery to make the plate not completely beige/bland. I used apple cider vinegar, and just slightly less sugar than called for; and we didn't have any yellow mustard (I know, what?!?), so we used deli brown. I found this to be overwhelmingly vinegary. I will try it again, with less vinegar, and will get some yellow mustard. All that said, I was pleased to actually "cook" - no microwave, no cans - for me, a decent dinner!

Turkey Noodle Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2011
I'm not an onion lover, so I knew going in that I might not love this...but the reviews that picky eaters liked it were so convincing. I had all the ingredients - well, cream of mushroom soup had to be subbed in - but otherwise, all of it. Um, not good. And my kids cried when I served it. The turkey tasted OK if I pulled it from the stew. I was sad, I had high hopes for an easy, leftovers-using dinner.

Easiest Turkey Loaf

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2012
Yum! I loved it, DH says it needs veggies and/or onions, and ketchup baked on top. Kids had to be forced to eat it, but I have to force them to eat anything but pizza... I'll make it again, at least for me and DH!

Quinoa with Carrots and Raisins

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2012
I too made it without onions or cilantro. I used a combo of raisins and craisins - mmmm! It tasted delish, but the texture was dry. I wonder if I need to add more liquid, to counteract the liquid absorbed by the dried fruit?

Easy Easy Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
I found it a little bland, added a lot of red pepper flakes to my bowlful and it greatly improved. I was hoping my kids would eat it, but no luck, except at least I coerced them into eating the turkey. My husband liked it, and even more so after he covered it with cheese. I might make it again for us adults, with a little more spice...
