My mom is a classic Southern home cook. My "death row" meal would be her fried chicken, collard greens, mashed potatoes & biscuits.

Making, from scratch, a black forest and German Chocolate cakes for a great regular's wedding. And, taking over the springele making for my family at Christmas.
My cooking tragedies
The first year I made the springeles, I spent hours making them, only to find that I hadn't used cake flour or anise oil (I used extract) and they were grainy and flavorless!
