I like to eat entirely unhealthy, but as I get older I'm beginning to realize I just can't do that anymore! Warm foods are the most comforting dishes (yay for baking!) especially for the winter. The more I bake the less I can stand store bought foods. I despise the idea of soy, tofu, raw fish or vegetarian foods, since I consider my tastebuds hearty and traditional. I consider poutine a staple food. I hate stew. And pork. If I could eat vanilla cake everyday, I would! I'm not a fan of chocolate.
My favorite things to cook
Meatloaf, poutine (with dark, thick beef gravy), pizza (control of those toppings!!), breads (I hate the idea of a bread machine - authenticity is lost in today's world), cakes, brownies and homemade icings!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Brown sugar in chili - I refuse to eat any chili without it
My cooking triumphs
Despite the simplicity, I've been told that I make the best ever rice krispie treats - everyone always asks me the secret (there isn't one lol!)
My cooking tragedies
I can not for some strange reason, bake a decent banana bread! I am a banana bread lover doomed to buy it from a store forever!
