Mediterranean Black Olive Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2005
I have made this for several parties. Each time I do a little something different. My favorite variation of this recipe is substituting whole wheat for 1/2 of the white flour and adding rosemary, basil, oregano, and garlic to the dough. I doubled the olives too! Great recipe.

Cherry Tomatoes Filled with Goat Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2002
I really enjoyed these. Made them for a party and they were a big hit. I used a serrated grapefruit spoon to do the tomatoes, which worked well.

Sausage Mushroom Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2005
This was good. I followed the directions completely. Next time I make it I will cut down on the sausage and add more eggs. It was more like a sausage pie than a quiche. I used a deep dish crust which was good because it was filled to the top.

Banana Bread VIII

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2003
This is a wonderful recipe. It was pleasantly surprising to find one without eggs. I also substituted unsweetened applesauce (3/4 cup) for the shortening. And yes, the house did smell wonderful!

Cream of Broccoli Soup III

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2003
This recipe was very easy and very tasty. However, it was on the thin side. Next time I will add a potato to thicken it.

The Best Corn Bread You'll Ever Eat

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2003
I made several of these for a party. They really did need sugar added (1/2 cup) and they need to cook longer than stated (about 40 minutes total). While they were good, I liked another recipe on this site better.

Jean's Marinated Mushrooms

I made these for a party and they were wonderful. I made them then let them sit in the marinade overnight. I also used less sugar. I would definitely do these again.

Black Bean Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
This is rich and hearty. I took the suggestions of other reviewers and used 3 cans of beans, only 2 cups of water and no extra salt. I made Nancy Pasqualone's cornbread recipe to go with it. What a great dinner.

I brought these to a charity event and they were a big hit. Use parchment paper when baking and the stickiness will be a non issue.

It's an easy recipe as far as Osso Buco goes but you get what you put into it. It was so-so. There are defintely better recipes around.

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2004
I cut some of the ingredience down - the sugar to 1 tablespoon (and still thought it was too sugary)the salt to a teaspoon and the oil to 1/3 cup (which I will reduce to 1/4 next time - save the calories - it doesn't need all that oil). I will also cut down on the vinegar next time. Then I added diced tomatoes and avocado. My friends enjoyed the results.
