Snappy is for Snapshot, as I am often found with a camera in front of my face. I am a stay at home home of two kids. I am trying to find ways to include them in the family meal process as it is a real challenge finding things they will eat that the whole family will enjoy. Expanding our garden has been a big part of that. I love to stay active and participate in sprint triathlons and half marathons.
My favorite things to cook
I can't say that I LOVE to cook. I feel like I spend all day in the kitchen prepping and cleaning meals for my family. I anticipate a time when this isn't so much the case and I think I will fall in love with cooking again. I love making beautiful foods with lots of color, like bruschetta and salads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom brought me up eating unique flavors and good quality fresh foods, even on a Single Mom salary. I ate vegetables fresh out of the garden from toddlerhood. I try to incorporate these values into our family meals. Eating fresh flavorfull foods that are interesting and fun.
My cooking triumphs
I'm really a better baker than a cook. I recently succeeded with a first attempt at a flan recipe. I even made a 'Mad Hatter' cake for my sisters birthday.
My cooking tragedies
Well, my fellow 'Spoon Sisters' will all remind me of the vegetarian burger disaster. To be honest, there are probably more tragedies than I care to recount.
