Make-Ahead Baked Egg Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2014
I have not tried them yet but at first glance I like the basic idea but I think the croissants are too high in fat. I would substitute with small bagels or English muffins and I would never reheat anything in plastic wrap. I would wrap it in parchment paper, then place them all in a plastic bag or freezing.

Classic Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2014
This is the forth time I have made this recipe. I am always on the lookout for good muffin recipes and this is one of the best. I substituted blueberries for raisins. Next time I will substitute apple sauce for the oil. I made eight large muffins instead of twelve.

Chow Mein Noodle Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
I've made this recipe for years. A couple of changes though; I use half butterscotch and half semi sweet chocolate to reduce the sweetness and I prefer cashews over peanuts. Some people add or substitute raisins for nuts.

Slow Cooker Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2013
I made this for the first time today and I will definitely make it again. I used my own sauce; just made sure I had the same quantity. I also used extra smooth ricotta and uncooked, regular lasagna noodles. I have a large crock pot and it was ready in 3.5 hours.

Spinach Cheese Manicotti

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2013
I just made this for the first time. My observations. It is too bland and has too much raw onion. I would add more of both cheeses; reduce the onion or sauté it first so that you don't crunch on onion every bite; add more flavouring; maybe some Frank's hot sauce for a little zing and I am no fan of spicy foods but this needs something more.

Real Hummus

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
I am no hummus expert but this recipe is great. I made a couple of changes. I did not add any of the reserved garbanzo bean liquid and I reduced the olive oil to 1 tbsp.

Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
I originally tried this recipe a couple of years ago. I believe that the secret is to start with good quality ribs and removing the membrane is absolutely vital to them coming out tender. It works well with whatever rub you like. So far I have not found any better recipe. The instructions say to remove the membrane by snipping it between each bone but that is very tedious work. I start at one end (usually the smaller end) and strip the full length of the rib in one go. It saves a ton of time and is far less frustrating.

Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
I made this recipe for the first time and omitted the carrots because I did not have them and it came out fine. Next time, I would consider adding some garlic.

Apple Pie Filling

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2010
I just made this for the first time today. I also reduced the sugar to 2 cups and the water to 4 cups The next time I would probably reduce the sugar a little more (maybe 1 1/2) and leave the water the same or even reduce it a little. If I keep the water the same, I would add a little more cornstarch. I also made a second batch with Splenda and was pleased with the results but would alter the recipe the same as mentioned above.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2010
I found this recipe last week and I have made it three times (including one double batch). So far I have not used the topping suggested. I have used just a little brown sugar instead. I also had to use frozen blueberries on one occasion and they turned out very nicely as well. This is the best muffin recipe I have ever used.

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
I would say that there are other mac and cheese recipes that I prefer. This one has eggs in it which I had never tried before and I can't see the advantage. I didn't like the fact that the recipe didn't call for the sauce to be prepared separately and so I did that because I felt it would be much better. I had to add more cheese and I also added flour because it was far too thin.
