About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom of 2 great kids. I have always enjoyed making people love me for 3 minutes while they eat one of my pastries and then hate me for the next few months while they worked it off their midsection!
My favorite things to cook
Desserts! I like showing off, I can't help it. I try to be creative, but most of the time one of the kids is pulling on my arm, so I don't always get it perfect.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Just started with my MIL, we combine forces for Holidays, and we get together Thursdays and Sundays, and end up throwing "stuf" (not the word we use!) together, and it comes out great. We can finish each other's sentences, and have just about the best MIL/DIL relationship anyone can have. I'm glad to have her.
My cooking triumphs
I wouldn't say triumphs, but I've delivered some "wow-ee"'s, such as an upside-down banana cake with brown sugar and pecan glaze, and a pretty cool batch of Chocolate Rugelach.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing
Excellent. Quite a gourmet difference between this and "traditional" stuffing. YUMMY!

Mara's Pork Chops
Wow. Like someone else said, I was skeptical about the sweetness, but it did some major justice to the meal. My husband loved it and my kids actually ate it. I also did not have tomato juice, so I added one small can of tomato sauce and one 14 oz can of diced tomatoes which I crushed on their way out of the can (in my hands, it was fun). Other than that, I stayed true to the recipe. Served with Chicken Broth rice and cabbage (saute with margarine). Definite hit at our house!

Chocolate Rum Cake
This was a hit with my dad! Only thing, it does not freeze well. The butter from the glaze did not survive the thawing process, and I had to scrape the solid "fat" from the outside of the cake. I also drizzled amaretto over the top - post thaw.
