Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
mmmmmmmmmmmmm. I just made this. I am eating it as I write this review. It is, in a word, great. A really easy recipe. I was terrified that my milk would burn, but it turned out in the end! I added 1/4 cup of sugar instead of 1/3, and I found this to be plenty sweet enough. To simplify, I mixed the egg, milk, and raisins in a bowl and added it as a mixture. I melted the margarine in the microwave. I used "sticky rice" which was a medium grain. It didn't quite make 1 and 1/2 cups of cooked rice, but it came out great nonetheless! Thanks for a wicked recipe!

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
So great! Our first time making these, and they turned out wonderful. The recipe makes no mention of how to separate the cabbage, but lesson learned: core the cabbage, put it core-side down in boiling water, and continue to turn it to cook evenly as the leaves fall off. Pull the leaves out of the water, and dry them off. :) They froze really well-- we just put them into Ziploc baggies and they make a great meal. They still take about an hour from frozen, maybe an extra fifteen minutes or crank the temp up by 25 degrees. If there's leftover cabbage, shred it and put it in the bottom of the dish to cook in the sauce. So great! :)

Honey Mustard Dressing II

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
Great. Easy. Quick. Delicious. My go to salad dressing. I always add a healthy dose of extra virgin olive oil. It thins out the dressing so it's not so concentrated and makes it a bit easier to coat the vegetables. I find it too strong otherwise. We also use honey mustard instead of mustard, and don't use mayonaisse, but a whipped dressing. (Since that's what's on hand.) Very good!

Zucchini Pineapple Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
This bread always turns out great, it's always moist, and stays fresh for days. We always a ton more zucchini (probably double). It's great too, because you can add just about anything to it. We've thrown in grated carrots, cranberries, blueberries, and banana! Very versatile, tastes great, looks great!

Haunting Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
This was great! We made it with milk powder, which was a cheap and easy option. It turned out great. The next time, however, we tried this with soy milk powder, and it was not so great. Tasted like wheat. (Of course, that's nothing on the recipe. :P) Also great if you add a bit of peppermint extract.

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
Baked really nicely, but it was too sweet for me to act as a go-to loaf. It'd be great with jam, as toast, or to eat on it's own, but not for sandwiches imho.
