I've done some searching through the recipes on for grain-free meal ideas. Basically any meat dish that isn't breaded is a good option. The vegetarian recipes are great, and leaving out the grains is usually easy. Many Indian dishes are served with rice or chapati bread, but by… MORE

About this Cook
I am an electro-mechanical designer who works for the Los Alamos National Laboratory, in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Cooking, writing, and photography are my passions, all perfectly suited to my latest love: travel.
My favorite things to cook
Vegetable dishes with fresh organic vegies from the Farmer's Market or the local Co-op. I am not a vegetarian, but most of my meals are. I have learned a lot about Tofu and breads made without grains thanks to a diet I was on to lower my cholesterol.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a 2 century old recipe for butterhorn rolls that is simply to die for. My mother is an excellent cook, who is self taught. I remember when she went through every single recipe in some cookbook when I was in high school. We never had the same thing twice in over a year. Some were wonderful, many were awful. But she learned, and I've not had a mediocre meal at her house in 30 years.
My cooking triumphs
Bread in a bread machine made entirely from non-grain flours. It was a bit too moist but it was tasty and made some great sandwiches.
My cooking tragedies
Bread in a bread machine made entirely from non-grain flours. The first five attempts were tragic, but finally, triumph!! See above....

Chocolate Refrigerator Cookies
If you want a cookie that tastes like a Girl Scout Thin Mint and yet is Christmasy, try this recipe. Then when the cookies are cool, coat the top with melted mint chocolate chips, and then sprinkle on Colored sugars to make it a holiday cookie. Yummy!!
