Mujaddara Arabic Lentil Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
My husband is Lebanese and this is a staple in our house. The kids love it. I don't prepare using the garlic powder or cumin but sometimes I do add allspice. We serve this with a yogurt sauce consisting of plain yogurt, crushed garlic and mint.

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2010
M 12-y-o daughter's favorite! Cube steak can be chewy so have the butcher at the grocery store run it through the tenderizer a 2nd time for you ... it does make a difference. And since my family is from the south, I grew up with this recipe save one modification: my mom fried it in bacon drippings, a little more flavorful than lard.

Pizzelles II

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
Yummy AND crispy. Several people have commented that their cookies were NOT crispy. The problem isn’t the recipe but in how you cool the cookies. Place them on something like a wood cutting board as it does not conduct heat or hold in the steam the way a pan will. I tried both methods today and discovered a big difference! Also, cookies should be 100% cool before you stack them.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Used Sweet Baby Ray's and I too omitted the brown sugar and shredded chicken half way through. Not as much sauce as I expected but still DELICIOUS!

Tasty but I could not get my pockets to stay closed. The dough just would not remain pinched shut.

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
Be careful how hot you cook this or the crust will burn before the meat is done.

Peachy Chicken Picante

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
A recipe in my book for years now and even my picky father enjoys this dish. Cook the chicken until a little bit brown, but be careful not to overcook or your chicken will be dry. I prefer to make this with a chipotle salsa and I add cilantro for more depth.

Slow Cooker Cranberry Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
This is a standby at our house. Just fine to omit the salad dressing too. Yummy with a wild rice pilaf. I've been making this recipe for 15 years and am surprised anyone else has heard about it. Like the idea of adding walnuts as another review suggested.

Balsamic Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
Didn't have time to marinate for hours and it's too hot to turn on the oven, so cut chix into chunks, marinated while I prepped and then cooked all on stove top. I would give it 5 stars for aroma too. Sauted some onion and red pepper with it too. YUMMY!
