Peanut Butter Bars

Where I live in Grand Rapids, MI there is this specialty store called Martha's Vineyard.  They sell these amazing peanut butter bars that are 3 inches thick and the size of the palm of your hand.  They have a chocolate chip cookie crust the peanut butter filling and then they are topped with peanut butter cups.  I use this recipe and modify it slightly.  I follow the recipe as indicated and then I chop up the peanut butter cups and put them on top.  This week my husband started a new job and I sent these bars with him today.  He said they were a hit.

Hi Carrie! I was hoping you would post your recipe for those Peanut Butter Bars. Awww. I even checked your recipes but could not find it. They sound delish! Yum. I tried to even find an AR recipe and found: 1.)"Swirled Peanut Butter Cup Brownies" AND 2.)"Peanut Butter Bars II" AND 3.)"Peanut Butter Cup Brownies" ~~ I would like to try them ALL.

I am 37 years old and I live in Grand Rapids, MI. I just bought a new house with my husband. We have an 11 year old daughter and we have a pit bull named Zara. Until three years ago I was "career woman hear me roar". Getting more in touch with my domestic side brought me to the kitchen, and I'm loving it.
My favorite things to cook
EVERYTHING and ANYTHING. I got my feet wet with desert but I will cook anything. I love pushing the envelop with exotic ingredients and sharing recipes with my sister Julie who lives in New Jersey. I go in spurts with what I cook. I will cook one thing and then I will spin it 10 different ways over two months.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am making my own cooking traditions. The first deserts I made for my husband when we were dating were cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. A couple of thanksgivings ago my mother made a "house to dress a turkey" video. It ruled!
My cooking triumphs
Besides the cheesecake and flourless chocolate I would have to say my biggest triumph has been an apple pie I made for my father. It knocked my mother's recipe out of the water and now she uses my recipe (sorry mom).
My cooking tragedies
The first couple of quiche I made were disgusting. I tend not to follow recipes unless it's desert. I have learned to find a good base recipe and build from there.
