Do you ever read the blogs posted regarding roundups? Do you ever wish you could have been there or even invited? I always did. I would always read about the big roundups and even the
mini ones right in my own back yard. Being too stubborn to make comments or invite myself I just read and wished I could have been there.
It's that time of year again where all of the roundup invites begin to surface asking one and all to join. Whether it be Mother Ann's Buckeye bash, mauigirl's Viva Las Vegas 2014, Candice's
PNW roundup, gderr's Southern round-up or any other roundup that I may have missed. They can involve meeting several AR folks or just a one on one. These roundups can be well worth looking into.
It was on February 23rd, 2012 that I had a life changing opportunity when I commented on a blog that mauigirl had written regarding National Margarita Day. My comment was, "Ah, sitting
poolside drinking a margarita with friends. Does it really have to be National Margarita Day to imbibe on a few? I don't think so." mauigirl's reply was, "bd.weld....I like the way you think:) It was then 2 minutes later mauigirl posted, "bd.weld.....I just
noticed that you are from Victorville. Is there any possibility that you could make it to the 2nd annual AR Viva Las Vegas gathering at my place in Vegas on May 19????? It was right then and there that I had
a life changing moment. My reply was, "I do have a weakness for Vegas! Got to clear this with DW but I don't see why not."
Now mind you, I'm this old, not so pretty guy that would be walking into a women's world. I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into, not to mention how I would explain to my
wife how we were going to Las Vegas and meet up with a bunch of women. After nervously prodding the wife into making the trip reservations were made.
I clearly remember the first day there. We went to the Harley Davidson Cafe on Friday night for a meet and greet and dinner. The wife and I got there a little early and there were a
couple of young ladies sitting at the bar. I wondered if they could be AR folks and thought of asking but didn't only to find out later that one of the young ladies was Bibi. After a short time the group started to gather out front and as I approached the
group I thought to myself, someone brought their kid. I told you I was old, that kid was Allrecipes Elizabeth!
I was a man amongst beauty and never felt out of place. The folks we met that weekend have forever changed my life and my wife's as well. We have become family and the family keeps
growing with each roundup. Any time we go to Las Vegas we call mauigirl and her husband to meet up somewhere. Here in Southern California we can meet at the drop of a hat whether in a group or just couples for a meal.
I remember one roundup at Marianne's where a few of the husbands attended. We had an absolute blast and since then the husbands realized that these roundups weren't tea parties and
have attended many others.
One last thought before I stop rambling, I want to say to every buzzer and blogger out there whether we agree or disagree on subjects, through the good, the bad, and the ugly, I embrace
you all as dear friends.
