...showed up to the Halloween party along with a cast of other characters.
Fall is beginning with the change of colors and cooler temperatures. Well, at least here in the high desert of Southern California the weather does get a little cooler. The tumble weeds are turning brown, preparing
to break loose and go rolling along their way. So it's time to decorate for fall and throw a little Halloween party for the grand kids and their friends.
Normally on Halloween we go to the grand kids house after they get home from school, take photos of them in their costumes, grab a quick bite of fast food pizza and then it's off to canvass the neighborhood for
treats. So, I thought why not do something earlier in the month for them to enjoy.
I recruited my granddaughter to help with the cooking and my grandson to help Nana with the decorations. The plans were set in motion and this
is what we came up with while we were having fun cooking and decorating.
We started out by making Caramel Corn Treat bowls, which turned out easy to make and fun to add different candies and nuts
to the caramel corn. Knowing it was going to be a long day before the party in the evening the grand kids and I decided to make lunch. Who doesn't like pizza? And pizza it is. So to keep in the spirit of things we made Creepy Mini Pizzas.
After lunch, while the grandson and Nana continued with the decorations, it was time to start deciding what to make for a side to go along with a big pot of chili.
We began scouring Allrecipes.com for some ideas and came up with Chipotle Macaroni and Cheese as a side to go along with the chili.
For the desserts we needed something easy and we agreed on Individual Pumpkin Pies along with Individual Vanilla Cheesecake.
Fun and good eats were had by all...
...along with some creepy creatures lurking in the dark.
