Welcome To My Office (In Parentheses)

I have a corner office (kitchen) with a view.

My Office

The bulk of my work is done at my desk (kitchen island).

My Desk

Most of my work consists of ART (AllRecipes Tweaking) renditions. Business in the office can be quite slow during the week, however, on the weekends it can be rather brisk (feeding a table of ten). My office assistant (sous chef Grace - my avatar) enjoys working part time at the office. Just a short distance from my desk is a conference table (dining table) where memories are spoken and we say grace and we say ma'am. There are certificates of accomplishment on the wall (apple crate labels and a rooster) along with an office motto.

The office decor is quite simple (mainly roosters, chickens and Fiesta Ware).

My office supply room (pantry) is well stocked with items (food staples) along with other items such as a paper cutter (meat slicer), a paper shredder (food processor) and a pencil sharpener (Chef's Choice knife sharpener). My copy machine (wireless printer for copying AR recipes) works overtime. The ink pens (knives) - often used to sign (carve) signature (dishes) - and the pencil holder (Fiesta Ware canister to hold spoons and spatulas) sit close to my desk. The bulletin board (refrigerator) is used for notes and appointments. My reference book (laptop computer) is kept nearby for quick references (AllRecipes).

The office cleaning service utilizes a Hoover vacuum (4 pound Chihuahua) by immediately cleaning the floor of paper scraps (food) and debris (crumbs), which accidentally fall to the floor.

Hoover Vacuum (aka Spike).

Down the office hall and to the right is the day care room (grand-children's get-away), stocked well with books, games and videos. This room is also often used for customers patiently waiting to enter "my office".

Day Care/Waiting Room

My other office? Well, that is where my Chief Financial Officer (DW aka Nana and an excellent cook herself I might add) hangs out awaiting my days work while I'm in "my office" working on my ART (AllRecipes Tweaking) renditions.

My Other Office

I have too many ART renditions to show (list) here but this has to be one of my favorites due to its versatility (as a stand-alone, its uses in other recipes, and they can be frozen).

I often wonder if anyone else enjoys working in their office (kitchen) as much as I do and has a favorite ART rendition.

Dec. 10, 2011 4:58 pm
How amazing of an office you have! Gonna tell ya... a little jealous over here! Happiest of holidays to you!

Dec. 10, 2011 5:06 pm
Terry - Thank you. Need the extra room for the grand-kids, they're making cake balls right now at my desk and I'm at the conference table. Happy holidays to you and your family.

Dec. 10, 2011 5:14 pm
Oh the dreaded cake balls!... Still cleaning up after my great idea... coated the last of the this am!

Dec. 10, 2011 6:13 pm
I too am jealous of your office, particularly your desk. Although I have an excellent cleaning service myself with 2 employees Maggy and Copper the mini weiner dog varieties of the Hoover vacuum. Excellent blog!

Dec. 10, 2011 6:47 pm
Kristy - I started calling him Hoover since he eats so fast. Thanks for looking in.

Dec. 10, 2011 7:44 pm
I guess it's "Take Your Pet to Work Day" every day! What fun!

Dec. 10, 2011 7:56 pm
Magnolia Blossom - Only when we are done in the "office". Thanks for looking in.

bd. love your clever blog. I enjoyed reading all about your special office! I especially like your Hoover. he is a cutie.

Dec. 10, 2011 8:03 pm
Lela - Maybe I should call him a Roomba. Cordless but doesn't bounce off the walls.

Dec. 11, 2011 4:42 am
Love the "office" - I have a live in "hoover" too, only she is a very large model. She isn't allowed in the "office" until after business hours but has been known to come running to assist if she hears any swear words coming from the office. :) Merry Christmas bd.

Dec. 11, 2011 5:11 am
Baking Nana - Merry Christmas. Hoover aka Spike knows that during office hours he's not allowed to vacuum. Thank you for looking in.

Dec. 11, 2011 6:03 am
LOL! Loved your office! My large model "hoover" got banned from my office recently after confusing the floor and the countertop as hoovering surfaces. Have a Merry Christmas!

Dec. 11, 2011 6:35 am
Cat Hill - Fortunately I have an economy sized vacuum so he can't access counter tops. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Dec. 11, 2011 7:59 am
What a fun blog that was to read and I am very envious of your gorgeous office. My office had to downsize, so I don't have nearly as much room to bring in additional staff to help with projects, but I now have an efficient and tidy area for the same quality of work as beforehand. I do miss the spaciousness and the storage units however. (also love the mural on the dishwasher and the red walls) Merry Christmas to your entire operation!

Dec. 11, 2011 8:11 am
Avon - Thank you and Merry Christmas. The dishwasher mural is a magnetic one. We have them for different holidays too.

Dec. 11, 2011 8:42 am
Merry Christmas bd. I love your office and this blog is GREAT. My office is smaller in comparison, gret view of the yard and I have huge supply rooms. My desk is a wrap around, my chickens and hoovers stay outdoors:) I suppose they would be considered gaurd and toll booth operators rather than hoovers. Inventing/creating love and memories in the office makes the days fly by and the weekly bonuses (hugs) are much appreciated. I love my work. My employees (boys) hang around the water cooler (fridge) exchanging gossip of their busy days at work (school). There co workers (friends) always manage to end up in my building, though it is not the largest, nor the shiniest on the block. I could not resist-love it!

Dec. 11, 2011 8:43 am
*their co-workers, geesh need more coffee (coffee)

Dec. 11, 2011 8:47 am
BTW, the doors to my office never close, the rotating door could run electricity for a small town if someone could hook it up to a windmill or a bike like the professor had on Gilligan's Island:)

Dec. 11, 2011 8:58 am
RNG - lol, yep I'm always open for business and love it. Memories, ya gotta love em. Customers are always welcome.

Dec. 11, 2011 9:22 am
Very, Very Nice. Only One problem, I Could Only See The Back End Of Your Chihuahua.

Dec. 11, 2011 9:23 am
RNG - I wish I could match your humor in blogs. Merry Christmas to you and your family along with the co-workers.

Dec. 11, 2011 9:26 am
King Sparta - He was busy working. I liked your previous discription of your dogs "Chiwawas".

Dec. 11, 2011 9:31 am
thanks, bd. I am never sure whether members just want a Good Blog comment or an additional burst of a comment. My mind is like a thunder storm, one good flash of lightning and it is done.

Dec. 11, 2011 9:45 am
RNG - Additional bursts of comments are always welcome here, however, sometimes when I want to comment on a blog I get "writers block".

apple.strudel - Thanks for looking in.

Dec. 12, 2011 5:54 am
Great blog! Now if I could just keep my wife from invading my office while I am at work...there is only room for one supervisor, and I dont need input when I am at work trying to create new jobs!

Dec. 12, 2011 6:10 am
Cliff G - lol, my wife is happy steering clear of my office while I'm at work.

Dec. 12, 2011 7:18 pm
Great Blog! I feel right at home! You are welcome to my office anytime,BD!

Dec. 13, 2011 1:39 am
O.M.Garsh! I was just reminded of what a sexist I am! Partly because of the presets in my mind - and partly because of the lovely Grace (a name I love - which I was only "allowed" to use as a middle name) - I heard your "voice" as a woman. I didn't realize until your comment to Cliff that you are the Papa to the Nana - um, duh! Apparently I never visited your profile. (Btw, love your office!)

Dec. 13, 2011 1:41 am
VICTORVILLE?!?!?!? You need to come to one of our So Cal AR meetings one of these days!!! You are just over the hill! I mean, um, just a freeway hop away - "over the hill" has a connotation that I did not intend (=

Dec. 13, 2011 5:24 am
Bd, cute blog on your "office"! I like your office motto! Looks like a warm and comfortable gathering place! Merry Christmas!!

Dec. 13, 2011 5:49 am
Cindy - Thank you for the invitation, wouldn't it be fun if we could visit each others office.

Dec. 13, 2011 5:55 am
Xraybarb - Yep, some book says I'm from Mars. No problem with "over the hill" I may be that but I'm still on the right side of dirt. A So Cal meet would be fun if you don't mind an old rooster.

Dec. 13, 2011 6:00 am
mickdee - Thank you. I found my "office motto" at Kohl's. I think they call them die cut wall stickers.

Dec. 13, 2011 10:07 am
BD - love the red accent wall. . and would love to have one in my "conference room" . . . however, the DH is so "fond" of red that he would not stop at just having an accent wall, and I would end up living in a fire station by the time he stopped. So I'll just admire yours and not let him see this blog. I also love your "desk"- may have to see if we can bring in the engineers for a re-draft to accommodate a re-design of the office space. Loved your blog and visiting your office - I can see you love your job!

Dec. 13, 2011 10:30 am
luvcook - lol, a fire station would be a bit much. I also use my desk as a buffet table.

Dec. 13, 2011 10:57 am
I have office envy! Your's is beautiful. That red wall does really warm the whole feel of the area. I hope you continue to have booming business. Merry Christmas!

Dec. 13, 2011 12:09 pm
BigShotsMom - Merry Christmas. Business will do well as long as I'm still kicking.

Dec. 13, 2011 3:57 pm
Of course, I LOVE the "vacuum cleaner!" What a cutie! lol Great blog! Merry Christmas!

Dec. 13, 2011 4:06 pm
Shanon K - Merry Christmas. Economy sized Hoover and low maintenance.

Dec. 13, 2011 4:19 pm
Your assistant is pretty cute, too!

Dec. 13, 2011 5:00 pm
Shanon K - Thank you. My Grand-daughter loves to work in the office.

Great blog bd! The office (kitchen) is the heart of every home! :) I too have an island in the middle of mine and the day I laid eyes on my kitchen was the day we bought the house, the heck with everything else! :P Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Dec. 14, 2011 6:13 am
Gitano - Merry Christmas. My same thoughts when I saw "my office".

Dec. 14, 2011 10:00 am
Our office has a view, also. Unfortunately the office is in a structure that was built shortly after caves went out of vogue and is in dire need of remodeling. You just commented onmy newest favorite ART so I won't bore you with it, again. Very clever blog, bd!

Dec. 14, 2011 10:11 am
Mike Harvey - Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Dec. 15, 2011 7:16 am
sueb - You're welcome anytime. Just give me a heads-up so I can tidy up the office and bring out the Hoover.

What a charming blog! Thanks for sharing your office with us. Those little Hoovers are so helpful, aren't they!

Dec. 15, 2011 5:39 pm
Mamaw - Thank you for looking in. Hoover is quite the cleaning service.

Dec. 17, 2011 7:32 am
I just passed through your town on my way home from Vegas (= Did you see me wave? My own little Hoover is a kitty who thinks she is actually a dishwasher!

Dec. 17, 2011 7:47 am
Really? The "open" sign on the office was on and you didn't stop in.

Dec. 18, 2011 12:35 am
Sorry - we were pooped and just wanted to be home! Next time (= [Is that like the "Hot Light" at Krispy Kreme?]
