Creamy Tortellini Carbonara

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2015
Family loved this dish but as others have mentioned the recipe is a mixture of metric and imperial. You will need 1 lb of tortellini, 4 oz of herb and garlic cream cheese (they say 1/2 (250 gr which is 8 oz) cream cheese this equal 4 oz.), and 6 oz of ham. Recipe is easy to come together. Will be making again.

Grilled Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2015
Wow what a great recipe. Made exactly as written. Allowed the chicken to marinate for about 6 hours before doing in the oven. LOL did over cook the breasts but I did find the centre was moist and full of flavour. Will be doing again. Thank you Jennifer for such a wonderful recipe.

Raspberry Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2015
Wow what a great and versatile recipe this is. The other reviews noted that they may try honey in place of sugar and olive oil. I did both these tweaks and it was great. Now just remember if you smell from the jar there is a strong vinegar smell but do not worry the blend works great and I did not find it over powering at all.

Shepherds Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2015
We just loved this dish. Full of flavour. Now I could only use Knorr Beef Bouillon as that is all I had. Will be keeping my eye out for Better than Bouillon because if the recipe is as good with what I used it will be better with this. I also added some diced mushrooms as we love mushrooms and beef. Thank you Bren for such a great recipe. Yes will be making again.

Broth Marinated BBQ Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2015
Wow is this a great recipe and made exactly as written. One thing I would like to suggest is double check your BBQ sauce. I did mine and found that my full bottle was only 14 oz. I had more of the exact same in the fridge so was ok on the amount. The steaks ended up marinating for 24 hours. The meat was tender and full of flavour. Will be doing again.

Stupid Hot Dog Thing

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2015
Family really enjoyed this. I did some tweaks do to family likes and what I had. Only had jarred pasta sauce in the 28 oz. so this is what I used. Also we do not enjoy processed cheese so I grated up a total of 10 oz of old cheddar cheese, monterey jack and parm. Had prepped early so when family got home heated in a 300 degree oven for about one hour.

Homemade Banana Pudding Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2015
This is an easy recipe to pull together. Tweaks I had done was use graham crumbs instead of the wafers. Cut the sugar back to 1/2 cup as others had suggested. I also used 1 tsp. vanilla extract and 1 tsp. banana extract instead of the 2 tsp. vanilla extract. There was several complaints about the pudding not thickening. Please remember the instructions say to stir frequently not constantly. If you stir constantly the pudding will take forever to thicken up. Will be making again but next time will use 2 tsp. of banana extract. Thank you Pat for sharing. And thank you bakergirl for suggesting this recipe.

Grilled Cheese De Mayo

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2015
Wow what a great sandwich. I used 12 grain bread instead of white. With the box grater using the slice side grated up some cheddar cheese, mozzarella and monetary jack cheese (I do not have cheese slices in house). Then slice some tomatoes. I cooked the sandwich in my pani maker. Will be making again. Thank you SHORECOOK for such a wonderful sandwich.

Beefy Baked Ravioli

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2015
Family loved this recipe. I had used fresh ravioli and ground veal instead of beef. I doubled the recipe in hopes to have some left for lunch LOL only none was left. I found that the sauce was thick which is the way my family loves sauces for pasta. I added 2 small cans of tomato sauce to ensure that there was enough for the fresh pasta. Will be making again.

Three Cheese Tortellini with Chicken Broth

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2015
I loved this recipe. The only change I did was instead of Chicken Broth I used the dripping from the roast chicken I did on Saturday. I also added some black pepper. This recipe is fast and easy to put together. Will be making again.

Easy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2015
Family loved this recipe. I had marinated the pork for 7 - 8 hours in a resealable bag rather than the glass dish. Instead of BBQ I baked in the oven at 450 for about 15 to 20 minutes. The pork was tender and full of flavour. Thank you Bren for such a wonderful recipe. Will be making again.

Luck o' the Irish Brownie

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2015
Oh my this recipe is additive. The pan I made was gone in a day with me eating the most. The only minor change was I used Pure Mint & Peppermint Extract. The centre layer reminded me of a Nanaimo Bar with both sweetness and texture. We enjoyed the base on this recipe very much. More cake like and not dense which was really a nice change. Will be making a 1/2 batch right now as DH did not get any.

Transparent Apple Cake - My Grandmother's

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2015
Wow what a great recipe. This is what I did. In a tea cup mixed the baking soda and water then set aside. In a large bowl sifted the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg. In my mixing bowl mixed oil, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Once mixed I added the soda mixture. Gradually added the flour and mixed till combined. Folded in the apples and walnuts (I did not have black and only had quarter cup chopped) Placed in a 9 x 13 pan. The batter is very very thick and had to scrap it into the pan. Baked at 350 for 45 minutes and it was done. I would suggest you check at 40 minutes. Will be making again.

Italian Sausage Spaghetti

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2015
What a wonderful recipe. The only tweak I did was add diced mushrooms and onion as I was frying the sausage. The only thing I would like to point out is your dish will never look like the picture. The pasta is cooked in the sauce as it is a one pot dish. Will be making again.

Garlic Chicken Fried Brown Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2015
Yes I did make this recipe using leftover chicken and rice but used more of the original as compared to the published one. This recipe had been changed from the original submitted by JOYCE. It went from 4 servings to 3. Also ingredients were either drop in size or dropped from the list altogether. The spices were dropped altogether which is probably why a lot of reviewers found it was missing something. In the original recipe it does say black pepper, paprika and parsley to taste . I used half tsp. black pepper, 1 tsp. paprika and 1 tbsp. parsley.

Steak Tip Marinade

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2015
Wow this is a great recipe. I used this marinade on a 2 lb. boneless sirloin tip roast. Allowed to marinate all day. Roasted with tatters and carrots. I poured the marinade in the bottom of the pan and added a little water. Used come of the juice on top of the roast. Yummy. Will be making again. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Under an hour Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2015
Wow great rolls. Fast and easy to put together. Did follow another suggestion and cut the sugar back just a little. Also used only 1/3 cup of oil. Using my kitchen scales weighted out 2 oz of dough before rolling into balls. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe.
