About this Cook
Minnesota thirty-something. Loves family and horses.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies! Also enjoy cooking meals for friends, especially if it's a group effort and we all do it together. It's so fun when everyone shares a kitchen. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
The annual autumn Booya. We make 25 gallons of the most wonderful Booya ever cooked over an open fire in the crisp late September air. We then invite all of our closest friends and family (who all bring food too!) and eat as much of it as we can. The rest goes home with them in bags or quart jars and heats up great even after freezing. Best tradition ever.
My cooking triumphs
If it's edible, it's a triumph!
My cooking tragedies
Learned from when I was a brand new housewife first learning to cook: Don't add water to a glass casserole dish while cooking. It explodes. I had chicken, wild rice hotdish and glass EVERYWHERE. Dinner was ruined the dog was trying to eat it, the baby crying (and nearly me too). I couldn't even shut the oven because the hot glass chips were all wedged in the over hinge. Broke as we were, we went out that night. Lesson learned!

Oh-So-Good Chicken
Yep, good, simple to make meal. I served mine in fresh flour tortillas to make it easier to serve outside (as wraps). The type of salsa probably really matters in this dish, as far as flavor. I used Pace Medium and it was great. Next time I think I may use mexican rice and try the crunched up tortillas/butter mixture on top that another reviewer suggested...

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo
I followed the recipe to the letter. This was a decent, adequate meal, but kind of a lot of steps and not outstanding enough to go through all of them again. My family liked it, and even ate the leftovers out of the fridge. But no one has mentioned it since, and they would, if it were a 5 star recipe.
