Stir-Fried Sweet and Sour Vegetables

This is very savory. I made quite a few changes because of what I had available. Used agar instead of palm sugar, broccoli instead of cauliflower, orange juice instead of lime, chicken broth instead of fish sauce, no cucumber, corn, peas, or tomato. Squeezed 1/2 tsp lemon on veggies at very end before serving. Super savory!

Hot Crab Dip

I made the recipe as directed except I used 1/3 less fat cream cheese, Old Bay instead of paprika, and fresh lump crab meat. It was not impressive in smell, flavor, texture, or appearance. I took it to a party and it was only 1/2 eaten because there were other more savory appetizers from which to choose. I wouldn't make it again.

Get a Husband Brunswick Stew

I really enjoyed this recipe, but altered it quite a bit, because had limited ingredients on hand. I did not use chicken, but used more Boston Butt, added 1 can regular corn and 1 can creamed corn. Added 2 large red potatoes. Reduce tomatoes to 2 cans and added 3 cups chicken stock. The BBQ sauce and ketchup are critical flavors. My family loved it and will make repeatedly.

Absolute Stress

All my guests wanted the recipe. I made it with fresh squeezed OJ, which seemed to make it a cut above, and vanilla rum. Also, used 1.5X both juices or one drink would knock out most ladies I know.

Creole Gumbo

Made recipe exactly as listed. It was too much work for the results. Was oily and lacked flavor. Kept adding creole seasoning, but never seemed very savory. Probably wouldn't make again since I'm not sure what to change.

Spicy Thai Vegetable Soup

Have made this recipe several times. Halfed the rice and made it with chicken as well as following the recipe exactly as is. Doubled carrots and used spinach rather than broccoli. I like the spinance better than broccoli, too. Used sour cream instead of plain yogurt everytime. Used the juice of one lemon b/c didn't have lemon grass. Yum! Not a fan of cilantro, so never used it.

Hot Onion Dip

Took it to a ladies gathering for 12 and it was all eaten except 1 serving. Sauteed onion in a bit of olive oil, but the remainder of recipe the same. YUM!

French Spring Soup

Deep Dish Layered Salad

This was an excellent recipe. I altered it based on someone's review. Changed curry pwdr to chili pwdr, reduced mayo to 1 1/4 cups and added 1/4 c. sour cr. Changed gr pepper to red to add color. My own suggestions: Omit celery, changed gr onions to purple and reduce to 1/2 c. Less chopping & more color. Changed mushrooms to corn and with the chili pdr it made it more Tex/Mex. Added 8 slices of diced bacon, an essential change for flavor. Added 1/2 c. shredded sharp cheese. It was really delicious and super fast to make.
