Too much liquid - take out 1/2 cup!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: May 3, 2012
Too salty! I am not sure how to cut this down since there is so much soy, but at a minimum - use reduced sodium soy sauce!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2007
This is a great recipe for apple crisp if you like the oatmeal type topping - the easiest and best I've found.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2007
Wow -who would have thought this could be so good? I modified as follows: seasoned raw fish with Old Bay before broiling; used fresh basil in the topping and served with basil chiffonade on a bed of rice; used panko in the topping which made it hold together better and brown really nicely. I had fresh walleye instead of tilapia, but this would work well with any flat, whitefish that's too thin to grill! Everybody raved and there wasn't a speck of food left. Easy AND a crowd pleaser, it doesn't get much better!

Barbeque Halibut Steaks

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2004
This was tasty, but didn't really soak into the fish very well. Maybe it would be better to let it sit in the sauce for about 10 minutes before grilling. I'll try that next time. The flavor was excellent, just not strong enough! I made it with Halibut for my hubbie, and tuna for me. Maybe since I had the tuna and it's so dense, that's why I didn't taste it much. Either way, we both really enjoyed it and will definitely make again.

Swedish Tea Ring

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2003
Great recipe, but needs tweaking. I followed it exactly and it turned out really good, except there wasn't enough filling. Next time, I'll double the filling ingredients and then I think it will be a true 5-star recipe! I love the lemon zest in the dough and the lemon icing!

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2003
Oh my God, these are good! My hubby usually only eats chocolate chip cookies, but he absolutely loved these, and so did everybody else! I didn't have brandy, so I used Drambuie - I think any liqeur would work great! Take them out before they're real brown and they'll stay chewy for days - YUM.

Coconut Macaroons III

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2003
Great and super easy - my macaroons always used to crumble. The addition of the flour really helps! Next time, I'll dip these in some melted chocolate to make them even yummier!

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
SOOO good you can eat it for dessert! I love sweet potatoes prepared any way, but this one is really great for special occasions. Give it a try! It's also good if you add some flaked coconut (if you like coconut, of course).

Dried Beef Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
Very good cheeseball. It always gets gobbled right up at parties and family gatherings. I like to add a few dashes of Tabasco to spice it up a little.

Sweet Heavenly Rice Dessert

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
This is the best - we had this in school when I was growing up and I've been trying to recreate it forever. The day we had this was always my favorite! It's great without the nuts too! (they didn't put nuts in in school because of potential allergies) It sounds simple, but try it, it's yummy!

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
Great recipe! I added lots of garlic with the onions, used 12 oz of fresh sliced mushrooms, and used red wine instead of white. It could use more sauce. I'll add more everything next time except beef. Very tasty - thanks for the excellent start.

Jo's Manicotti

Reviewed: May 28, 2003
I liked this alot and so did everybody who ate it, but the filling was a bit runny. Maybe the ricotta needs to be drained or something? I'll tweak it a little next time and try to firm up the filling. I'll definitely make it again though!

American Lasagna

Reviewed: May 28, 2003
Very good, but too salty as is. I would eliminate the table salt altogether. The other ingredients add enough salt!

Tuna Buns

Reviewed: May 28, 2003
This was more like egg salad than tuna, and way too cheesy. It was OK, but I probably won't make it again. It's worth a shot if you like lots of cheese. It doesn't reheat well at all.

Seafood Lasagna II

Reviewed: May 28, 2003
I made this for my sister's baby shower, and everybody absolutely raved about it. I will make it for the next family gathering. It's VERY rich and decadent - definitely not a meal I'd eat all the time, but great for a real treat. It was very easy to make. I changed it a bit - I'm allergic to scallops, so I used 1.5 pounds of shrimp, a large can of real lump crabmeat, and a large can of clams. There was plenty of seafood in there. I didn't use the fake crabmeat at all. Everybody loved it!

Chocolate Chip Cheesecake I

Reviewed: May 28, 2003
My friend told me this was the best cheesecake she ever had, and to be honest, I'd have to put it right up there with any restaurant cheesecake I've ever had! It was awesome and really easy! The only thing I changed is that I mixed more (about half) of the chocolate chips with the flour and mixed them in with the batter, then put the rest on top. It was nicely sprinkled with chips throughout -they didn't even sink! Also, I didn't have regular graham crackers, so I used chocolate ones and it was great, even with the extra cocoa powder and sugar. I will make this all the time!

Easy Seven Layer Vegetable Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2003
My family requests this for every gathering - it's great! I do add a couple of chopped eggs on top of the peas because I like them, but the salad doesn't need it!

Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2002
Yummy! I used turkey smoked sausage to cut the fat and this was really good. It freezes well too - I have it frozen in individual servings and have it for lunch often. Pretty easy to make too.
