Married with five children and seven grandchildren. Family meals and get togethers with friends make for wonderful memories. Good smells and flavors will help make those memories come more easily when exposed repeatedly.
My favorite things to cook
Fresh garden vegetables and fresh fruits are my very favorite. Next, is hibachi meats, fried rice, and salads. It often depends on how hot it is outside, the weather greatly influences what I want to eat and am willing to cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Real everything...butter, eggs, vegetables, natural grains, and oils. Meats from farmers who use no antibiotics or growth hormones (definitely out). Milk and cream and the freshest wild fish available even if it has to be overnight shipped. Preparing vegetables and fruits for winter luxuries.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking for over 100 people once a week for several years; home cooked meals with fresh ingredients and had individuals find they liked carrots, spinach, and other foods they previously thought were, yuk!
My cooking tragedies
Letting potatoes sit in water then trying to cream them...turned out like glue! First apple pie made from freshly picked green apples, perfectly latticed top crust and gave my grandmother the very first piece...she smiled and said not a word. I took a bite....awful...I had left out the sugar. If nothing else, the pie has sugar it in ever since!
