I love this dish. However, I made some changes to make it a more balanced meal. First I sauted, half a large onion chopped in 4 tablespoons of butter and 2 tbsp of olive oil. Then once cooked down a bit (5-7min), I added cooked deli ham chopped into the onions and saute that all together. In a measuring cup, I put 1/2 cup of half and half and 1/2 cup of chicken broth and microwaved for 2 minutes. I sprinkled 1 tbsp on flour down on top of the onion/ham mixture and cooked for 1 minute then added in the cream/broth mixture. I let that all heat through. I then added the cubed fontina and stirred till almost blended. I then added a handful of frozen peas at the very end. Overall, it was delicious and my husband was very excited to eat it! Great recipe!
