I've been cooking and coming up with dishes since I was big enough to see the top of the stove. Basically since I was 7 or 8 years old. I learned by watching people, shows, and reading cook books of all kinds. I'm glued to Hell's Kitchen and Top Chef now. Ramsey Rules!
My favorite things to cook
My favorites or seafood, vegetables, pasta, and fresh food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There really weren't any traditions of cooking styles in my family, but there were a few traditional recipes, but they died with my Father.
My cooking triumphs
I made risotto for the first time about six months ago, and everyone raved about it. I made it for the second time for my husband's birthday dinner and added a small amount of sliced green onion to the basic risotto. They loved it.
My cooking tragedies
For Home-ec glass, we had to pick an ingredient and come up with 7 dinners for the final grade. I chose pasta and one dish I threw away after I made it, because I didn't know that the cream of shrimp soup I used had wine in it and was supposed to taste like it did. My teacher said it was a shame because she was looking forward to the dish when I told her I threw it out without letting anyone taste it. She gave me an A+ and recreated the dish at home, they loved it. Might do it again.
