This was spectacular! Can't believe I have waited all these years to make a cherry pie from scratch! I used store bought pie crusts to save time since I was making so many pies. Due to nut allergies in the family, I used triple the amount (per the internet) of vanilla extract. As others suggested, I put 1/4 cup sugar on the bottom of the pie crust before adding the filling to prevent the bottom crust from becoming soggy.
This pie was perfect. Will make many of these in the years to come.
