Strawberry Cake from Scratch

I made this cake today and took it to work. What an AWESOME cake! I had some strawberries that I had to use up and am I ever glad I checked here first! I did make it in a 13x9 inch pan instead of the double layer. Baked it for 45 minutes (glass). Then made a "fluff" topping made of 1/2 cool whip and 1/2 cream cheese. I whipped these together till smooth and then stirred in about a cup of finely chopped strawberries. Did I ever get the rave reviews. Each person actually took a piece of cake and then spooned the "fluff" over that. Thanks for a great recipe!!!

Traditional Gyro Meat

This was excellent! Easy to make. Didn't change a thing about the recipe. Sliced it on an angle, very thin and it looked almost like we had just cut it off the "spit". Found a good recipe for pita bread also on another site so made that to go with it. Sure beats the store bought pita bread. Also used the easy cucumber sauce from this site. All in all it was a grrrreat meal.

Easy Creamy Pork Tenderloin

I just made this recipe today and absolutely love it. Super easy!! But I did read the reviews and then tweaked it slightly. I put in 1 can of each....cream of celery, potato, and mushroom. I also cut up small carrots and sprinkled with parsley for color and presentation. I did not add any salt, even to the instant rice, due to all the salt in all the soups and it was just right. I rubbed the tenderloin with garlic/lemon/pepper seasoning very generously. This is a definite keeper!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe and all the "tips". Oodles_OR

Baked Seafood Au Gratin

This was awesome and leftovers were even better! The only changes I did was... instead of water, I used 2 cups clam juice (major flavor booster) and only 2 cups milk. Pretty much followed the main recipe other than that. thanks for sharing a great recipe.

Super Grilled Salmon

I put this all together last night after I got off work and DH grilled it tonight. What a super easy recipe and I just happened to have some Shiraz wine in the house (as DH belongs to a wine club). I think any good "red" wine would be fine, but who knows for sure. Why mess with "perfection"!! DH called me at work to tell me how "perfect" this dish was. He absolutely loved it and he is the one that gave it this rating. Thanks for a super easy, tasty dish. Make sure you do the "dip" part, i.e. thickening of the marinade. DH says it was totally awesome even without, but loved it even more with the "dip".

Artichoke Salsa

I made this for my co workers this past week. Everyone raved about it. Some people do not like cilantro so this was the perfect salsa for them. I would definitely suggest doing at least a double batch if not even a triple batch, as it goes very quickly. I also chopped it ever so lightly in my food processor so that the "chunks" were not so large...more bite size and easier to "scoop" up. Thanks for a grrreat recipe.

Gourmet Cream of Broccoli Soup

OMG...is this awesome or what?!!! We absolutely loved this soup. Not to mention how EASY it is to make. I followed the recipe exactly as written and would not change a thing (as I normally would) in the future either. Thank you for another grrrreat recipe.

Old German Honey Cookies

Very good cookie. Loved the "texture". I used 1 1/4 c. butter instead of the shortening. Also took others suggestion and used 1 1/4 c. honey and 1/2 c. sugar for more "honey" taste. I did add 1/2 t. cinn amon and a pinch of nutmeg along with the 1/2 t. ginger. They still came out very good. In fact, I am thinking about entering them in next year's state fair. Thank you for a "keeper".

Chile Garlic BBQ Salmon

Another 5 star salmon recipe for us. My husband another couple that I had over for dinner tonight were all in agreement. I forgot to put the lime juice in and did not have any fresh ginger (so used 1 tsp. ground) and did not have any green onions....even with all this..it was absolutely fabulous. Thank you for an excellent recipe.

Sirloin Steak Dianne

DH is rating this a 5 star recipe. He absolutely loved it. All I kept hearing was mm, mm, mm. I rarely eat beef but I did have a few bites and it was quite delicious. I think I will cut back on the mustard just a bit next time. Otherwise, I made it exactly as stated. Thank you for sharing.

Apple Butter III

This is a truly outstanding recipe. Both my MIL and FIL are diabetics. I did not use quite all the juice, but otherwise it is thee most perfect apple butter I've ever made! Just the right amount of "spices"! Thank you for sharing this recipe. I will be making this for years to come!!

Nutritious Lentil Salad

You have to love lentils to really like this recipe. I took it to a barbeque tonight for a vegetarian friend and got lots of compliments on it. It is excellent either at room temperature or cold, right from the refrigerator. Thank you for a very good recipe. Will make this again.

Zesty Penne, Sausage and Peppers

OMG....you have to try to this recipe. Sooooo simple and good! I did the recipe as stated except for the red pepper flakes. I don't like spicy anything but DH added it to his serving. We both were ooohing and aaahing over this. I don't care for fennel seed either but it definitely added a nice flavor. Will be making this one over and over. thank you for sharing.

This was a "very" bland recipe. DH thought it was okay but definitely needed to be "spiced" up considerably. Will probably make again but with different seasonings. It also took almost 40 minutes to bake.

Chuck Roast with Homemade Noodles

This was absolutely wonderful. I did add a little bit of steak seasoning to the roast just before searing it. Poured in 1/4 cup red wine and 1/4 cup water, placed in oven at 325 for 2 hours, then added 4 large cut carrots and 6 medium potatoes, quartered and baked for 45 minutes longer. Mmmm mmmm mmmm Had to add a little salt at the table but it was mouthwatering and super tender. Thanks for sharing.

Swedish Cookies (Brunscrackers)

True to the description, these cookies are super easy to make and taste absolutely wonderful. I make my own vanilla sugar and used maple syrup. My DH actually gave them this rating. He is drinking a cup of tea and eating them as I am writing this review. He said they would be excellent with coffee or milk also. I even nibbled on one and they almost melt in your mouth. Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful, easy, and fast to make recipe.
