Jan's Jalapeno Popper Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2014
Awesome!! It's a keeper! Our jalapenos weren't quite hot enough for our liking so we added hot sauce as we ate. I made it as written and it's great.

Scrumptious Spring Soup

Reviewed: May 20, 2013
I had just been given some fava beans and was searching for a recipe to use them when this one popped up. It sounded very interesting and I had everything on hand except for the fresh thyme. I halved the recipe, made it as is and it has a lot of interesting flavors going on and is a very filling soup. My personal preferences: I found the beef broth too heavy for all the spring veggies. When I make it again, I will try it with chicken or veggie stock and switch out the veal for ground chicken. Definitely worth trying!

Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: May 20, 2013
This was my first attempt at Belgian Waffles and the recipe looked pretty simple in case I wasn't very awake in the morning. :) I made them as directed and they were a hit.

Blueberry Sherbet

Super easy!! I make my own yogurt so I used it instead of the sour cream for a frozen yogurt treat. It came out excellent!!

Sunrise Pizza

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2011
Excellent change for a weekend breakfast. Very filling. I make my own pizza crusts so I pre baked a small one to use for this and it worked fine. I was out of sausage so I cooked bacon and crumbled it in the eggs as they cooked and added mushrooms and olives to the toppings. I don't normally eat eggs but this had enough other things to 'cover' the taste of the eggs and I really enjoyed it. I do think it would be much better with a hot sausage and will try it that way another weekend. Combine with a Mimosa and it made for a very special morning. :)

Hot Jalapeno Mustard

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
LOVED IT!! A great hot mustard. Easy to prepare. Prepared as directed. We like some heat with our jalapenos so I doubled them and left the seeds in. I will add more honey next time so sweeten it more.

Delicious Stuffed Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
Excellent!! I wasn't sold by just reading the recipe but tried it because it was unique. I would like to try it again with hot turkey sausage as the filling. Thanks for a great recipe!

Ketchup

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
I remember homemade ketchup from my childhood and YUCK. Being all grown up now, I decided to try this recipe and it is wonderful. I replaced the fennel with fennel seed, the star anise with anise extract and the cloves with allspice. Original recipe says it makes 16 servings - so figure ea serving is approx 1 T. I tripled it without a problem. I also put everything in my crockpot on high until it was heated through. then on low WITHOUT a lid - cooked it overnight then put everything through a sieve in the morning and back into the crock pot on low until I had the desired thickness I wanted. I plan on making it again over the winter with the tomato juice I canned this summer. Ummm.
