Little Trick for Level Cakes

Many of you may already know this little trick for turning out level cakes,instead of cakes that look like hills. I was reading some tips from a wonderful cake site that I belong to, and the person posting shared that putting a large pizza stone on the
bottom rack of your oven aids in cakes baking up level, instead of sloped.
You see, I have always used those even baking strips to bake my cakes level. They are so sloppy to use though. They have to be place in ice water and soaked while the cake is being mixed up. Then, you have squeeze the water out of them,then.................place
them around the cake pan without pricking yourself with the pin that connects them. Very messy, no fun getting poked in the finger either!
When I saw this post by an apparent cake baking angel, I decided to try it. Wow! My cakes are, for the most part, turning out beautifully! I will never use those stupid strips ever again! They are expensive too!
