Egyptian Koshari

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2012
I haven't tried this particular recipe although I make Koshari fairly often. I serve the tomato sauce (dakuse) on the side and don't mix it with the onion. I fry the onion to a crispy, golden brown. I mix the rice, pasta and lentils and serve the dakuse and onion on the side. The onion is my favorite part. I make the dekuse by boiling a can of rotel (choose your level of spiciness), I add a couple of cloves of garlic and then puree it. This sounds like a strange dish but it is delicious! Great for vegetarians! Glad someone posted it. BTW: I also cook rice, lentils and pasta separately then mix together.

Mushroom-Smothered Beef Burgers

Really good! I didn't have mushroom soup so I used Cream of Chicken. My husband and I really enjoyed this and he has asked me to make it again. Thanks Campbell's!

Baked Salmon II

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2012
I've made this several times now and my husband and I always enjoy it. I use fresh dill instead of basil and omit the parsley and it is absolutely delicious! I try to prepare salmon in different ways but once I made this it's the only way my husband wants it and that's fine by me because it's so easy. Thanks for sharing!

Haitian French Toast

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2011
Loved this! As did the whole family. Didn't feel like cooking like regular french toast so I broke it up and put it in the oven as one reviewer suggested. It was excellent. Maybe next time I'll add some dried fruit to it, like cranberries or raisins, anything really. Felt it was a little healthier baked since my daughter isn't into fried foods. I used a good cinnamon bread too.

I made this for dinner yesterday and it got rave reviews. I added mushrooms, used fresh garlic (I never use powder, matter of principle) and left out the added salt. Delicious! Thanks Denisef

Honey Mustard Dressing II

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2010
I just made this dressing, unfortunately the only lemon I had left was too old to use. I only noticed after I had everything else mixed together. It didn't need it, was delicious without it. I imagine it would have made it a little thinner and gave a a little zing. Since I made 4x the original recipe I'll add some lemon juice tomorrow. Thanks for a great recipe!

Slow Cooker Western Omelet

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
I made this a few weeks ago and got rave reviews. My daughter took it to school for an early morning meeting. All the teachers asked for the recipe. I'm gonna make it now so we'll have a hot breakfast in the morning and I won't have to cook then!

I've made this twice now and it was really good. I was going to make this for a ladies night and had an afternoon nap planning to get up and get it ready. Well, I overslept, but it was so quick and easy it was ready on time, with rave reviews from all! Excellent recipe! Thanks for sharing.

Curry-Style Chicken and Spinach

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
We really enjoyed this. I did add more spices and used fresh onion and ginger. I never use powder. Served over rice. My daughter's only complaint was that it had chicken in it. She is 16 and has decided she no longer likes chicken. I'll cook it on the side next time. Would probably be good over penne pasta as well.

Spicy Beef Curry Stew for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
Very nice. I didn't do the browning of the meat and it was just fine. Next time I will add some apple to give it a bit of sweetness with the spice, besides I love beef curry with apple. Thanks for the recipe

Costas French Market Doughnuts (Beignets)

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
Delish! I wouldn't add vanilla. It should have a little nutmeg for a more authentic recipe. I normally use another recipe but you have to let it rest overnight and I needed it more quickly. I thought they were great and I forgot to add the nutmeg. My guests thought they were fantastic!

Slow-Cooked Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
My family is already asking when I'm gonna make it again. Soon! This was easy and delish. Thanks for letting me know that meatloaf can be cooked in a slow cooker. It was very easy, as meatloaves are, but I didn't have to stay home. :-)

Chicken Curry I

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
I was looking for a recipe very similar to my own because I'm not at home but want curry. I haven't made it in so long I've forgotten half the ingredients and needed a reminder. As I looked the ingredients over my recipe came back to me (of course). I didn't really change anything, just added potatoes because that's what I usually do, of course I fry them first, I also put everything in the slow cooker. I usually add coconut milk but didn't have any so I didn't bother. BTW, coconut milk in curry is better than yoghurt in my book. The recipe smells delish and tastes even better. Cheers!
