About this Cook
In addition to cooking, writing is my passion. I'm supposed to be finishing my novel but instead, I blog:
My favorite things to cook
One of these days I will live in New Orleans. In the meantime I try to evoke memories of our visits by cooking such things as jambalaya, gumbo and bread pudding.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family loves the traditional Thanksgiving meal, so much so that once is not enough. Sometime around the middle of October my mom and I start talking about having what we call "a trial run on Thanksgiving". In recent years I've hosted it at my house and we have turkey and all the trimmings.
My cooking triumphs
People beg me to make jambalaya. I got the recipe from a dear friend in New Orleans and honestly, it's better than any I've ever had in a restaurant.
My cooking tragedies
I am famous for burning the garlic bread in the broiler. Note to self: Set a timer!

Absolutely the BEST Rich and Creamy Blue Cheese Dressing Ever!
I made this for tonight's dinner and it was perfect. I doubled the recipe but kept the sugar at 1/4 teaspoon. That's the only change I made which is pretty amazing for me.
