Old Fashioned Chicken Pot Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
I thought this recipe was just okay - maybe a little boring. I used canned chicken breast meat (2 - 13 oz. cans), which turned out fine. My complaint was that there wasn't much of a gravy to it - I think next time I'll try one of the recipes which call for a cream (chicken or whatever) soup. Also, I definitely wouldn't add anymore that what's called for as far as the thyme.

Cheese Sauce Over Cauliflower

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
I was disappointed with this recipe. It was pretty tasteless, I really didn't like the taste of the thyme, and the texture was not good either. I've come to the conclusion that the only way to make a good tasting cheese sauce is to use a recipe which calls for a processed cheese (like Velveeta). The processed cheese gives it a nice smooth texture, and a nice cheesy flavor.

Southern Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2009
I agree with a lot of others who say this recipe makes for very tender pork, which is good, but as far as taste, I found it to be very bland too - definitely need to top the sandwiches with bbq sauce. Also, in my opinion, 4 cups of water is a lot of liquid. I think next time I'd add less, although I suppose the meat needs to be covered with liquid in order to make it tender. As others suggested, I might try using beer, beef or chicken broth, or maybe a combination of them.

Lemony Cucumbers

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
I thot this was a very good recipe, although I thot the celery seed was a bit too much, so I cut that down to 1 tsp. Also, the first time I made this, I misread the recipe, thinking it said white vinegar (as opposed to white wine vinegar)and I made it with the white vinegar, and it was also very good.

Out of this World Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2007
While I agree that this made for a very moist turkey, I'm amazed that no one (other than myself and "MamaW") had the issue with the turkey and especially the gravy being too salty. I did use regular salt, as opposed to the "canning salt" called for in the recipe. I'm not sure if that would make any difference or not. I'd make this again, but I'd definitely cut way down on the salt!!

Rice with Black Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2006
I was disappointed with this recipe. It sounded like it would be a good one, but when tried it, I gotta say.....it was just rather drab. I'd probly try it again if I could come up with some seasoning or something to jazz it up a bit, but I'm not sure what that would be.

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: May 18, 2006
I thought this was a very tasty macaroni salad......only thing is.....I only used half of the sauce mixture and it was plenty! I saved the other half, and a few days later made the salad again, and used the other half!

Golden Pork Chops

I wouldn't make these again......they were pretty much tasteless, and a waste of ingredients. Also, chops were tough

Tuna Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2003
I was a little disappointed with the dressing in this recipe. I used real mayo, and wonder if Miracle Whip woulda' been better, i.e. it mighta have added a little more zing. Also, I'm not a tuna eater, so I used chicken breast instead of tuna. I also added peas to the recipe.
