About this Cook
My mother first taught me to "cook" when I was old enough to stand on a stool and stir Jello. By the time we were in junior high school, my sister and I were making full dinners for the family. I love to cook and bake all kinds of food -- from comfort food to more complicated recipes. When I'm not in the kitchen, you can usually find me reading or spending time with my kids. Like many who love cooking, I like to read new cookbooks from start to finish in one sitting.
My favorite things to cook
Too numerous to name!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making spaghetti sauce from scratch, learned at a young age and making our family's favorite tacos although I have never found anyone else that makes them the way we do. I'm not particularly fond of making Christmas cookies, but do so to get the kids involved with me in the kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
I look upon any successful cooking project, no matter how simple or complex as a triumph. I'm especially happy when I can get the entire family to enjoy the same dish!
My cooking tragedies
Pancakes -- always awful! I have never been able to make a decent yeast-based bread. I cannot make rice without a rice maker or I forget about it and it burns!

Mint Garden Tea Concentrate
This sounds wonderful, but you forgot to mention how much tea to put into the recipe -- or is the mint used instead of traditional tea leaves? Thank you.

Melt-in-Your-Mouth Slow Cooker Chicken
I made this exactly as written (except for the malt vinegar, which I did not have on hand) and it was devoured by four picky eaters, all with different tastes! The dish was easy to make, and although the spices and ingredients don't sound like they'd go together -- they do! The sauce was thick, rich and creamy, the chicken tender and juicy. I took the breasts out to shred, gave the sauce a good stir, and then placed the shredded chicken back into the crockpot on low while I made the pasta and side dish (green beans with grape tomatoes in a touch of Italian dressing). Thank goodness -- a new staple that every one can agree on! Thanks!

Chicken and Rice Casserole
This recipe IS missing key ingredients -- some kind of liquid. The rice does not cook evenly, and the soups on top are not mixed into a nice sauce. Like another reviewer, it was inedible as written, and now the family is hungry and frustrated. Follow the advice of some other reviewers and add liquid and mix it with both the soup mix and the can of soup. I don't know how much to liquid to add, so check out some of the other reviewers who have been making this correctly for years, and try it that way. DON'T try it as written.
