Cream of Broccoli Soup IV

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2002
This soup was easy to make and tastes delicious. I threw in a few cups of shredded cheddar cheese, but it's fine without the cheese.

Basic Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
I make this recipe with the leftovers from my Christmas Honeybaked ham. I usually use a package of assorted beans, but otherwise follow the recipe exactly. My family loves it!

Cinnamon Hazelnut Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
This was the first biscotti recipe I ever tried. Awesome! I omitted the nuts since my husband can't eat them, and doubled the cinnamon. I had no trouble with crumbling and the taste was amazing. This year, I will make them and drizzle a little chocolate over as other reviewers have suggested and give as gifts to my co-workers.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
Snickerdoodles are my favorite cookie, and this is now my favorite recipe for them! I followed other reviewers' advice - cut cream of tartar in half, doubled cinnamon sugar for rolling and baked for EXACTLY 8 minutes. They were chewy, delicious perfection. My niece at first refused to try them, because "Aunt Lori's snickerdoodles are the best". After one bite, Aunt Lori moved to second place!

Slow Cooker Lancaster County Pork and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
Here's how I tweaked the recipe: omitted: caraway seeds (didn't have any) added: 2 skinned, cored and diced Royal Gala apples and 2 Tablespoons of brown sugar per other reviewers' suggestions cooked: 8 hours on low LOVED the results. The meat was tender and juicy. I've found that pork tends to be dry when cooked in the slow cooker, but no such issue here. This was a staple in my home on New Year's Day growing up (Pennsylvania Dutch father!) and this brought back great memories. Served with mashed potatoes and applesauce. Thanks Kathie!

Fabulous Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2008
I made this the first time according to the recipe, but added 1 tablespoon of butter to the broth. It turned out fabulous. A batch for tonight's dinner is cooking on the stove as I write this. Very close to the recipe of a nearby Amish smorgasbord!

Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2012
I made this exactly as written and thought it was amazing. Even DH, who usually inhales, then asks for seconds, stopped a moment to comment on how good it was! A perfect blend of sweetness and tartness, this will go into my regular rotation.

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
This was amazing! The meat was tender and delicious and the vegetables a nice texture. I made a few changes to accommodate my pantry: At the recommendation of other reviewers, I used beef broth in place of water - I think about 2 cups which was what I had on hand. I didn't have baby red potatoes, so used full size red potatoes cut in eighths, and dumped in a bunch of baby carrots. Didn't have beer, so didn't use any. I actually cooked this in my slow-cooker on low for 10 hours. My family was thrilled with this meal. I will definitely make this again. Glad I tried it before St. Patty's Day so I can get more corned beef while it's still on sale. Thanks, Lusyrsgirl!
