Born and raised in San Diego, CA. When I'm not at the barn with my daughter and our two horses I enjoy when I have time to cook. I like to make dishes for family and friends that you can get in a nice restaurant but for almost half the price. It's tough to go out to eat and pay those prices when I can whip it up myself but I don't refuse an invite to go out and have it served either!
My favorite things to cook
Most everything but a few favorites are: crab cakes,cabbage rolls,spaghetti sauces, steaks (filet mignon) on sale, soups, and mac cheese for the kids.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every holiday my mom has Hatch chili from New Mexico sent to her and she makes her famous individual stacked enchiladas and posole soup with pork. If we are lucky somone in the family will make fresh tortillas!
My cooking triumphs
My cooking triumphs are when I've prepared something for a friend or family member and they ask for the recipe or see if I will prepare a batch for them to freeze so they can serve it to a visiting friend. What a nice compliment!
My cooking tragedies
I've had nothing to tragic...yet! I was making a batch of chili for a work party and instead of adding cayenne pepper I accidentally grabbed the paprika,yuk! Thankfully it was easy enough to fix.
