Mom's Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
My husband made this and it tasted like something that you would get in a restauraunt. It was so good. He used 2.5 lbs. of. Chicken breasts cut into tender size pieces and added some red pepper flakes. I can't wait for the leftovers tonight!

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2011
These just tasted weird to me. I used 1/2 c. whole milk in place of the dry milk and added chocolate chips. I wanted to love them, but I didn't. I also didn't throw them away.....

Paprika Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
My wife, who is not a big sauerkraut fan, loved this. I also thought that it was very good and difference than the same old, same old. I added extra sauerkraut, garlic, and sage. Otherwise, I followed the recipe relatively closely.

Slow Cooker Spicy Black-Eyed Peas

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2010
I love black-eyed peas but my wife does not. This is the only recipe of them that she will eat (and she actually likes it). The cumin gives it a bit of chili character and it has a nice spice (we are pepper heads so we add an extra jalapenos and hot sauce / cayanne.).

Carib Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
We really liked the complex flavors of this black bean soup. We added a few jalapenos for added spice and some extra garlic as we can never have enough. Served with some cheddar cheese sprinkled on top.

Polish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
We will make this again. We used 1/4 t. ground allspice as we didn't have any of the whole ones on hand.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
I'd give this 4.5 stars if I could. I doubled the recipe and added a little garlic powder and onion powder as some other reviews suggested. I also added 1/2 c. buttermilk. Very good, and I am a mac and cheese snob.

Never Enough Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Made this for Thanksgiving and it was the disappointment on the table. It tasted like plain old green bean casserole to me - and I am not a huge fan of that.

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
This was a good recipe, and we may make it again, it just wasn't great. The chicken was sweet and moist. I doubled the liquids and cooked breast side down. It fell off the bone, so it wasn't the prettiest chicken ever.

Stuffed Peppers with Turkey and Vegetables

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
These were good, just not the best stuffed peppers I have ever had. I like my peppers saucy. I added a can of tomato soup in lieu of the paste, thinking it would do the job, but the filling was still not where I would like it to be. I will make again, but have marinara ready to pour on top and around the peppers while cooking.

Lemon Basil Carrots

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
This was a good recipe. I was looking for a way to use the end of our fresh carrots and basil, and this worked. A nice change from the mapley sweet recipes.

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
This was great. I have slim to no kitchen skills, but I can slice a few fresh peaches and luckily that was all I needed to do for this recipe. It was great!

Chicken Tagine

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
This recipe was really good - far different from our normal dinner. We used all chicken breast and put them whole, frozen in the bottom of the crockpot. We cubed and browned the eggplant, but didn't add it to the crockpot until there was about 2 hours left in the crockpot. Other minor changes included adding 1/2 can of black beans (the cumin seemed to be calling for them), about 1 tsp paprika and a few shakes of hot sauce, as some of the other reviews said it needed to be spicier. It was very easy to make and it made enough for my husband and I to eat all week!! I knew it was a good dinner when my husband told me it was a great find on the website. I think we will make this for company next time.

The Best Bean and Ham Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2009
The recipe name says it all. This is the best Bean and Ham Soup. It was great day one, but warmed up well (seemed to get better everyday). We made a couple of modifications to the recipe. 1) We did not have vegteable broth so we substituted a package of dry vegtable soup mix and three cups of water 2) We used a can of diced tomatoes with jalapenos as opposed to plain 3) We added about a teaspoon of ground cumin 4) Lastly we added a few dashes of hot sause

Garlic Brussels Sprouts

We love Brussel Sprouts in our house. This recipe was quick and easy. I added a little sherry to broth as someone else suggested and browned my garlic in pure olive oil.

Unbelievable Chicken

Awesome recipe. Perfect combination of sweet and sour. The olive also allowed the chicken to brown on the outside, which held in the juices. Everyone loved it!
