Southern Breakfast Skillet

Excellent recipe which I will definitely prepare again. When you add the onion, throw in a diced green pepper - it works!

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2014
We made this recipe after visiting our local farmers market and acquiring a nice butternut squash. Delicious!! The only changes we made were reducing the cream cheese to one 8 ounce package, and using butter and chicken stock. Thank you to the reviewer who noted that a two pound squash was the same as six cups of peeled and cubed squash. Also, our thanks to Mary -

Italian Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2013
This soup was perfect on a December day in Minnesota with a temperature outside of -5. I followed the recipe, but added a cup more of water. I also cooked the pasta separately. All of the family felt it's a keeper of a recipe - thank you Jackie!

Hamburger Corn Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2013
My grandsons loved this soup even on a hot July day. My changes include: reducing to three cans of corn (2 regular and one cream style), a half cup of vegetable broth, a tad of granulated garlic, and a tad of basil. I like to measure my potatoes and two cups of peeled and diced red potatoes were perfect. Lastly, I cooked it on the stove! Thank you Meemps for sharing your recipe.

Beef Barley Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2013
Excellent recipe - I followed the advice of other reviewers and used petite diced tomatoes instead of stewed and beef broth instead of water. I also omitted the frozen mixed vegetables and put everything into the crock pot right from the start. Definitely a keeper - the family loved the barley. Thank you, Margoc.

Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2014
Excellent! Followed the recipe as written with the exception of using dried herbs instead of fresh. Using my faithful Dutch Oven, I baked this, covered, at 300 degrees for several hours - adding the carrots and celery after the first hour. Served with mashed potatoes -very tender and tasty - thank you, Chef John !

Chef John's Caramel Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2014
Chef John is my favorite recipe source and I always enjoy his recipes. This recipe was very good, but a bit salty for my taste. I used 3 Crabs fish sauce. When I looked around for comparable recipes I found one by chef Charles Phan of the Slanted Door. His notes were: "NOTES Because fish sauces vary in their saltiness, Phan advises adding the fish sauce to taste. SERVE WITH Steamed jasmine rice." Perhaps the 3 Crabs brand fish sauce (Viet Huong) is a bit mort salty than the fish sauce used by Chef John in the video.

Thank you Chef John - this is an excellent recipe. We used home made bread, free range eggs, and flat leaf parsley from our local Farmers Market and the result was awesome. Definitely a keeper of a recipe and we appreciated the video.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2014
This recipe is great. It is nearly identical to the one I use. I wanted to try this recipe with the combination of one cup brown sugar and one cup white sugar and a bit more zucchini as the reviews suggested. I was fascinated by the video. I wish it had revealed how the flour was dipped and measured. That is one of the details that videos can, and should, disclose (the video shows the sugar being dipped). I prefer weight measures for the reason that the amount of flour called out by cups in a recipe depends on how the flour is dipped and measured.

Vegan Red Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2013
Very good recipe - I followed it as written, but did add an additional cup of water toward the end as it was becoming more stew than soup. It definitely is a keeper of a recipe. I was just given a bottle of ginger juice, and the next time I make this recipe I will sub the juice for the minced ginger. I think it will make the soup smoother in texture and yet keep the taste of the ginger. Thank you Labelchef !

The grandsons weren't thrilled with this recipe. I think the hot pepper flakes and the hot sauce didn't mesh with the other seasonings. I won"t make it again - but obviously a number of reviews enjoyed it and so to each their own.
