Banana Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2012
Delicious! I love a cakey cookie. I followed the recipe exactly--I was temped to add another banana, but a single banana is perfect--the flavor is just right. Thanks JoAnne!

Tender Pork Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2011
Great. I didn't use pre-mixed fajita seasoning; I subbed cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and crushed coriander and crushed mustard seeds. Otherwise, followed recipe to the letter, using the 4 hour braise time. Excellent, sticky, sweet and tender.

Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2011
Tasty! Follow the adjustments from Laura's comment in 2007 and it comes out just right (2 c milk, 1.25 c cooked rice). Since I used leftover rice that had been seasoned, I left out the salt in this recipe. Also, I recommend tempering the eggs by adding a small amount of hot rice mixture to the beaten eggs and slowly adding tempered eggs to the main pot of rice.

Delectable. I add a bit of sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and a dollop of sour cream. The texture of these pancakes can't be beat--crispy on the surface, light and fluffy and thick! Thank you!

I followed suggestions to reduce the milk by half and also doubled the recipe without problems. Rave reviews from coworkers. Thank you!

Beef Stew VI

Good! Definitely take time to coat the meat in flour before you brown. I added a bay leaf, a bit of cumin, tomato paste and worchestershire.

Spicy Black Bean Cakes

Delicious. I loved that they were baked. Mine were a little on the soggy side, but I think I just needed to leave them in longer. Thanks for the recipe!

Biscotti Toscani

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
I've made biscotti using other recipes before and this one is the keeper. The dough is stickier than other recipes I've used in the past, but perhaps that is why (although the cookies are hard, as they should be) no one will break a tooth on the finished product :) The only modification I made was to use 1 tsp each of vanilla and almond extracts. Thanks!

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
Very good. We rubbed the roast with a pork seasoning mix. I added a bunch of whole peeled garlic cloves and a touch of liquid smoke and let it cook overnight. We live in a small place, and it smelled so delicious that we couldn't sleep :) After about 14 hours, I used a slotted spoon to separate out the pork from the liquid and am letting it sit on low for another hour or so. Already taste-tested and it's amazing. Thanks!

Easy Pancakes

Delicious. I added vanilla and a bit of cinnamon. Adjusted the baking powder to 2 tsp, which seems perfect. Added a dollop of sour cream to the mixture and blended, as someone else suggested. I will never buy pancake mix again!

Alfredo Light

Good basic sauce. I followed the suggestions of other readers and used butter to sautee the garlic (used a couple more cloves); created a roux; and nearly doubled the parmesan cheese.

Grilled Mahi Mahi

I used mahi mahi filets and my oven's broiler. Perhaps I screwed up, but other than those modifications, I followed the recipe exactly. Sorry. :(

Lisa's Adobo

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2005
Very good. I made this recipe with chicken and the meat was tender and tasty. My husband liked it very much, but I wasn't in love with the sauce. I let the soy sauce, vinegar and broth (and bay leaves and garlic) reduce in the dutch oven, which worked wonders on the chicken, but I didn't feel that adding the coconut milk really improved anything other than thickening a sauce that didn't really work as a sauce for me. I would make this again, because it flavored the meat so well, but maybe next time I'll serve the chicken without a pool of sauce to flavor it and the rice, if that makes sense. Either way, Metalmommy, thank you for the recipe. I liked it very much, and I hope my comments don't seem to indicate otherwise :)
