Fragrant Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2007
very tasty, very easy. left out broth and liquid from tomatoes (used drained 28 oz can instead). added a diced yellow pepper in with the onion. otherwise the same, and i didnt find it overwhelmingly spicy. i was hoping more of the coconut flavor would come through, but i was still very pleased with the result. and it was a piece of cake to put together.

Grilled Chicken Adobo

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
well, this is a chicken recipe i wont make again. i found it came out like bad chinese food, tasting like pure soy sauce. even with low sodium soy sauce, it was still way salty. i broiled at the end instead of grilling, maybe grilling is absolutely needed. i wont find out though, theres too many other good recipes on this site. oh well.

Blackened Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2007
this chicken is good, but its not spicy enough to really qualify it as blackened, for what blackened means to me. also, there is no need for as much oil as the recipe calls for, and no need to heat it for FIFTEEN minutes. that is dangerous, and i put the chicken on after ten minutes. i didnt realize how much smoke was filling my apartment, but the entire night after i kept coughing and couldnt take a deep breath. this recipe should come with a WARNING: have lots of ventilation and try not to breathe in all the smoke. i REALLY didnt appreciate not having the warning. the chicken is good, but it wasnt worth damaging my lungs for.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2007
these cookies are very tasty, granted, yes. however, i was terribly annoyed to find that i had big gingerbread balls because of the directive: lightly flatten cookie. you need to really flatten the cookie out to get a result like that in the photo. i would make them again, and will really squash em down.

Mini Meringues

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2007
so instead of sugar i used splenda, and insodoing lowered the calorie count per giant meringue (not mini at all!!) !! i wanted something sweet and crunchy for my new healthier regime, and these fit the bill. melt in your mouth and cotton candy like...i did add 1/4 tsp lemon zest and next time would put more, while probably halving the splenda because these were VERY sweet. i liked when the center was gooey AND when it solidified. who knew meringues were so easy?

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
me and hubby both thought these were awesome. definitely a workout for the hands in making the ropes, none of mine were 6feet but they turned out perfect all the same. also NO NEED FOR PARCHMENT...i didnt have so i just sprayed my baking sheets with baking spray and i can't imagine paper making any difference. these were delightful. i will make again and hopefully not eat what remains of the dozen. thanks.

Mini Eggplant Pizzettes

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2007
for those of us watching what we eat, and who also adore eggplant parmesan AND pizza, this recipe is a practical godsend! i made it for a baby shower potluck, and all the ladies appreciated it and gobbled it up. i made it with tomato sauce seasoned with oregano and basil, skim mozzerella and vegetarian pepperoni. i would give this 5 stars except that it was a bit messy to eat as finger food, with the eggplant mushing in in the middle. but its worth it and i'll make it again all the same, and so said the other ladies as well. thanks for a great idea! cant believe i never thought of it. =)

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2007
i thought this recipe was easy and very tasty. i used low sodium soy sauce, and instead of sugar i used calorie free splenda, and was very pleased to find it cuts 65 calories per serving, as well as 16.7 carbs! for those of us watching what we eat, that makes a big change and the taste is still right on. first night i ate it with brown rice and it was good, but second night over broccoli and sweet potatoes was super delicious and even healthier. will make again, thanks.

Mama's Italian Wedding Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2007
this is VERY yummy and very easy, just a bit tiring on the wrists rolling all those teeny meatballs. i tried the trick of rolling them on the counter and just couldnt get it to stick. its a bit of work, but its worth it.

The Best Meatloaf I've Ever Made

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2007
super duper meatloaf. my husband is saying '4 and a quarter stars' and he is hard to please! i thought it was very tasty, especially with the topping. moist and yummy and i didnt mind doing the work. recipe says 'serves 12' and that makes for VERY small portions, so if you are watching what you eat, watch the size of your slice if your aim is to stay true to the nutritional content provided. will make again!

Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2007
i thought these were absolutely restaurant quality, and my husband too thought they were delightful. i cant believe anyone thinks they are bland! i made them without turmeric, couldnt find any...used 1t cinnamon and 1/4 t cloves and drained the chickpeas and added a mostly drained can of diced tomatoes. i did use a hand blender to puree about half of it, and i couldnt have been more pleased with the results. it will definitely stay in the rotation. thanks for the recipe.

Best Burger Ever

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2007
dont get me wrong, this is a good burger...but it IS named BEST burger ever so i was expecting eye popping flavor. i appreciate the heart healthy oatmeal and the burger had a nice moist texture but i would try a different recipe in search of THE burger before making this again.

Candied Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2006
this recipe is excellent! i took the advice of many reviewers and wound up doing this: cutting the chicken into pieces, 5 breasts. fried it in skillet for 6 minutes, poured it in baking pan. use 3/4 cup crumbs, its all you need. reduced oregano to 1tsp. added 1tsp chili flakes and 1tsp garlic powder which i wouldnt leave out next time for sure. made sauce using 1/8 cup mustard, 1 cup brown sugar, 2 cloves garlic and 1 tsp minced ginger and onion powder instead of actual onion. next time will double sauce ingredients to have more for rice or egg noodles. instead of pineapple i used yellow pepper slices...and wound up with spicy amazing chicken with thick sauce that sticks to it. baked 30 minutes covered, 15 uncovered. me and hubby loved this recipe, left amazing flavor on the tongue. truly delicious high quality dish that is super easy, especially if you put bread crumb mix in big ziploc with chicken and shake to coat. no mess! great stuff, thanks.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2006
this lasagna is super tasty, and i basically just followed direction. i used one spicy and one sweet sausage, lite ricotta, splenda instead of sugar and extra lean beef in an attempt to cut it back. the sauce is delicious and meaty and a great red color full of healthy tomato. we really enjoyed it. there was some extra sauce and i only used 10 noodles, but i will make this again, it doesnt take too much effort and its yummy. good tip on spraying the tin foil with cooking spray. oh, i virtually omitted all the salt, and it wasnt missed. my husband has requested more sausage in it next time, thats his only gripe. otherwise a winner.

Baked Pancakes with Sausages

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
very easy and yummy. i altered to 3 servings and used 4 chopped sausages and 4 slices of minced turkey bacon. i also omitted the salt, increased the sugar (splenda), increased the baking powder (next time i'll use self rising i think) and subbed butter for shortening. these were very tasty and because i oversprayed the pan the bottom was crispy which we did rather enjoy. i'll make this again.

Chicken Balsamic

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2006
this recipe gets 5 stars for being super easy and super tasty. everything was in the house already. i marinated for ten minutes per side and next time will do overnight for even more intensity of this delicious taste. i used 2t italian herbs, 1/2 each of oregano, basil, thyme and parsley. i used 2T splenda instead of sugar, and 6 cloves of garlic instead of just 1. 1?! come on. next time i will increase the marinade and serve as sauce on angel hair pasta, which i imagine would be divine. italian hubby loved this bird, thank you. very yums.

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2005
i've given out this recipe twice already since making it the first time, and i made it again tonight. confession: i used brianna's poppy dressing instead of making fresh because its just that good. tonight i didnt have pear so i used broken mandarin orange pieces, and it was just as good if not better. pretty to look at and even better to eat. merci!
