Layered Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2002
This is a "fantastic" salad for any buffet or potluck. I make it during the summer months and serve it with cold chicken for a easy summertime dinner...leftovers are even better the next day! So many of my friends have requested this recipe from me.

Lettuce with Hot Bacon Dressing

Reviewed: May 2, 2009
I grew up in Pennsylvania Dutch area and this was a regular dish for us when ou Mom made pork chops and boiled potatoes quartered. Today, I still make this when we have pork chops, only do not add radishes. My husband from Pacific Northwest just loves. It's a keeper for us. by a BehlerBusyBee

Hamburger Corn Soup

Reviewed: May 24, 2013
This is awesome....great meal to make in your crockpot in your RV while camping or during hunting season or anytime. I think the cream corn does wonders for this...it is a winner in my book. I use red potatoes because they hold up better and don't turn to mush. This has become a family favorite.

Broccoli Salad I

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2013
This is a great salad and so healthy. I used NonFat-vanilla yogurt instead of plain and doubled it. Skipped the OJ and doubled the mayo.....turned out GREAT.

Ma Bethie's Zucchini Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
I've made this so many times as a side dish or a finger food cold (cut into squares). It is always a hit. Recipe should read '3 cups of grated zucchini'. A half cup of veggie oil is better then all that butter, too. And 1 tsp of oregano would improve the flavor more. After adding everything I use my mixer to mix things up and spoon into a butter 9x13 glass pan for 30 mins at 350 deg. It's a never fail for me...this was my Mom's recipe from her Mother :o) .

Saskatoon Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2002
While on a hunting trip in Northern Alberta my husband brought home saskatoon berries that was given to him by the farmers wife which they had picked and froze. I made this pie today and it is the BEST pie that we ever ate. I did not cook the berries first, and it gave the pie a very slightly berry crunch which made it extra flavorful. All I can say is that I wish we had more saskatoon berries in our freezer for more pies. Truly a wonderful and delightful pie.

Chloe's Quick Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
This is a great after school snack for the kids...I have my granddaughter, and grandson working together making it. The fun thing for them is to put the final touch of a dallop of whip cream on top...they ask for this all the time. You can almost use whatever fruits you have on hand that go TOGETHER. Plus, my holiday tables always have a fruit salad on them especially for the grandkids. :o)

Breakfast Pies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
My 5yr old grandson helped me make these and he could not wait to eat one..ended up eating 2 and wanted to take them home. Next time I make them, which will be for Xmas morning I will add sliced mushrooms, too. These were fantastic and so easy. Great to take along on long trips in the car with a good cup of coffee. I'll be making these many times. My son asked for the recipe, too.

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2010
I've made this many times but would suggest that if you add a 1/2 +/- cup of evaporated canned milk to the soup mix gives it a richer taste and a more moist casserole...also I always add 1 cup of cheese into the casserole for added moisture. (One cup of cheese on top) ... :o)

Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Blue Cheese-Chive Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
Have you tried just putting steak seasoning on it and then grilling not more then 10 mins per side? That's what I call a perfect steak. There is no need to slice a flat iron steak thin and across the grain, as it it so tender anyway you cut it. We love them, the blue cheese-chive butter sounds good and goes well on top of a baked potato.

Egg in a Boat

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2011
OMG; something so simple to make for the kiddies or grandkiddies. I make these upon request and that is a lot. My grandkidsr love these as an after school snack with a mug of hot choc. My Mom made these all the time for us 5 kids growing up in PA in the 50-60's era...good ole days. We called them "Birds-in-a-Nest". Egg goes in hole on first side of buttered bread. We like egg cooked almost semi-hard.

Chef John's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2013
I will never use another Banana Bread recipe again. This is so easy, no mess to clean up and better yet...it's so moist and delicious. I do omit the choc chips to save on calories. One loaf was gone in one day...our 2 grandkids ate it all as an after school snack. They keep asking, Grammy when are you going to make more banana bread?
