Corn Tortillas

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2006
Thanks so much for this recipe. I had tried others but they always seemed to leave something out of the instructions. These turned out perfect.

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Wonderful the way it is, but for my taste I think I will leave out the bacon next time.

Tin Roof Sundae Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
Really good and really easy. The recipe made enough "crust" for 2 pies. Would be great with all sorts of other nut/ice cream/topping variations.

Chocolate Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2007
The only change I made to this recipe is I added a bag of Reeses peanut butter cups (the tiny ones used for baking). Very good chocolate flavor. This recipe is a keeper!

Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2006
Despite the fact that I - 1)misread the recipe and used a tube pan instead of a fluted pan and 2) increased the recipe and had to finish it in the microwave because it was mushy -it still tasted fantastic! Everyone loved it! I can't wait to try again with the correct pan and proportions. One tip: put the brown sugar mixture in a plastic bag and shake the buttered dough in it for easier clean up.

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2006
These aren't close to the ones in the mall they are much better. They are so easy to make too! Do follow the hint in the editors note.

Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2006
I used rather lean pork for this so it was a little healthier. The flavor was kind of mild so next time I think I will increase the amount of spices otherwise it was excellent. Much better than store-bought.

Potato Rosemary Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2012
I usually purchase rosemary rolls from a local store with a bakery and I love them. So when I saw this recipe I had to try it. These are even better than the ones from the bakery! I will definitely will make them again!

To Die For Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2013
I followed the recipe except for two minor changes. I used one pound of pasta instead of 1 1/2 pounds (per other suggestions) and the amount of sauce was perfect for that amount of pasta. Also I used garlic powder instead of garlic salt, it didn't really need any added salt since the cheese already made it salty enough. Otherwise this recipe is perfect.

Kris' Amazing Shredded Mexican Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2012
The name is right on, this is AMAZING. The meat came out moist, tender and flavorful. What more could you ask for? I think this recipe would work equally well with pork or chicken.

Basic Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2006
I like that this recipe doesn't call for bread flour. Smells and tastes wonderful.

Yam Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2012
My family all liked this recipe, even those that don't normally like yams. I did make one change and that was to use fresh yams instead of canned. I steamed them then continued with the recipe. I didn't think the yams were too sweet which was good because the topping is somewhat sweet, which balanced it out.

Fried Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2006
Taste just like the deep fried ice cream you get in Mexican Restaurants. Even better served like they do with fried (flour) tortilla triangles sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar and chocolate sauce and whipped cream.

Pineapple Lemonade Spritzers

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2004
This is sooooooo good! I did add more of the syrup than the recipe called for (it was too weak) but other than that it is fantastic. I added a little rum once (or twice or...) and it made a great adult drink.

Apple Pie Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
This turned out pretty good. I did make 3 minor changes. First, since I used the hard store-bought cookies I just crumbled them and added without the baking step. Second I chopped the apples into bite-sized pieces instead of slicing them. Third I did cook the egg/cream mixture because I have young children. They all liked it - the cinnamon wasn't overpowering.

Best Easy Chicken Croquettes

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
These were much better than other recipes I have tried. I too used Cream of Mushroom because it was all I had and it worked great. Just be sure to double or triple the recipe because they go fast. I can't wait to try it in a sandwich like another reviewer suggested.

Poinsettia Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
I thought these cookies tasted really good but they didn't look nearly as attractive as in the picture. The dough is hard to work with. I think next time I will try a cookie press.

Butter Pecan Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2006
My kids loved this ice cream. The only changes I made was to add 2 teaspoons (for a double recipe) of butter flavoring with the vanilla and a bit of sugar & a pinch of salt to the pecans when I cooked them in the butter (I cooked them until the sugar caramelized).
