Gram's Ham Loaf

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
I wish I could have liked this...I was looking for something different for the family, followed the directions to a T and this was an absolute catastrophe. I can't explain the very odd taste and the texture was grainy and terrible... the only bonus was the sauce (hence the single star.) My family had to drown their ham loaf in sauce to choke it down...I'm sorry; will not be making again.

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
very good basic recipe. i altered as many did - i used six very large slices of french bread cut into large cubes and placed them into a buttered pan, browned and then added jimmy deans maple sausage as the next layer, whisked 11 eggs with 1/2 cup of milk and one cup of half and half - poured that over the bread and sausage layers, topped it with 1 1/2 cups of mexican mix cheese and let it set in the refrigerator overnight. popped it in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes and it was wonderful. the family loved it! i think i'll try using the one reviewers "sweetened" version next time. thank you for the recipe!

Pull-Apart Hot Cross Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2011
These were excellent! I tried out a batch yesterday to see if I wanted to make them for Easter and I will be for sure. I didn't alter the recipe much: I was almost out of white sugar so I used 1/4C white and 1/4C brown sugar. Also, I followed the recipe when I added 1/4C dried cherries, 1/4C golden raisins, 1/4C dried cranberries but also added 1/4C currants. It was my first time using cardamom and I don't think I'd skip this spice or use cinnamon in it's place, they smelled so very good. My whole family loved them ages 5-adult. FYI - The recipe does make a lot and they are dense but oh so wonderful!

Lobster Bisque

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
very good - i made only a few adjustments; i doubled the recipe however used three pounds of fresh lobster tails flash cooked in a skillet with a dab of butter and cubed it (a bit more expensive but worth it), substituted heavy whipping cream for the milk and added three table spoons of tomato paste, a bit more worcestershire sauce and a bit more cayenne pepper. absolutely excellent.

Good - not excellent but good. We thought it was a bit greasy for our tastes.

OH MY LORD - YUMMY! I doubled the contents for a deep dish and put the banana's on top of the custard. Then, I made homemade whip and topped the pie with it. 5 stars.

Garlic Creamed Chicken

pretty good; next time i'll probably reduce the sour cream a bit. it was just a tad bit too zippy for me but very easy and hearty.

Gorgonzola Butter

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
Simple and delicious. I don't have a food processor at home so I did a lot of hand mashing in a bowl with a fork which was simple and this was wonderful. We used it as a topping on beef tenderloin servings; YUMMY!

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
Absolutely delicious. Everyone from the Hubby to my three sons loved it. I used a three pounder and we like ours almost rare in the center so adjusted my cooking time a bit. I added some gorgonzola butter (recipe on this site) to the top of the individual servings and then topped with the shallots sauce and it was a HUGE hit!
