Nutty Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 20, 2011
This has become my most used recipe! Like other reviewers, I add my own touches, like cinnamon, honey, vanilla, raisins, and almonds (instead walnuts/pecans). I made my third batch today, and ate a piece just out of the oven, with whipped honey butter. Thanks, TERESALOU!!

Cream Of Asparagus Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
Thank you, Lynn! I used your recipe to inspire me:) I didn't have leeks so used one medium onion; chicken broth wasn't available so I substituted home-made vegetable stock and some chicken bullion. I left out the white pepper and fresh parsley, as the kids aren't big fans (yet!). Instead of milk I utilized a box of bechamel sauce that was handy. Oh and I didn't puree all of the potatoes in order to give it a bit more texture. I know I made a lot of changes, but again I say, "Thanks!!"

Cinnamon Apple Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
I searched for a recipe utilizing apples and sweet potatoes as I had a couple of apples and one sweet potato handy. I peeled and sliced the s. potatoes before cooking them for about 7 minutes. I didn't have any cornstarch and of course used less of the other ingredients: 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 cup white sugar, approx. 1 1/2 tsps cinnamon, a few scrapes of whole nutmeg, and added a total of 2 tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoons of Nocino (walnut liqueur). Thanks for providing a good basis for my culinary experimentation!

Mrs. Fields Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
I used 1 cup sugar, 1 cup butter and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract; this recipe was a big hit!! I also sprinkled cinnamon on a few and only baked them for 10 minutes.

Brazilian Fish Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2010
I mixed tilapia and salmon, didn't use garlic and cut back on the peppers. I didn't have cilantro, but I served the stew over basmati rice made with saffron, chicken bullion, olive oil and coriander. Everyone loved it, including a three year old!

Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2010
I didn't have the celery so used celery salt instead and added a zucchini that was handy. I didn't have enough chicken stock so I used water. Fresh ginger, ground cumin and allspice as well as some 2% milk and olive oil also gave the recipe a bit more zing.
