About this Cook
I love to bake and try out recipes that people have had in their families (tried and true recipes). One of my hobbies is collecting cookbooks as well, and I especially like community cookbooks, again, recipes that are tried and true.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make desserts mainly, but I rather bake them than eat them! I have no idea why, other than I have a salty tooth vs. sweet tooth.
My cooking triumphs
Everyone that has tried my baklava loves it- it was originally an Allrecipes recipe but it's morphed a bit, and people ask for the recipe all the time.

Eggplant with Garlic Sauce
Yum! Followed recipe to the tee so I could give it a fair rating. I did cook the eggplant longer because I do like the eggplant soft. Also, if I were to make it again, I would probably use chopped garlic in the canola oil vs. garlic powder. My 11 year old daughter who normally doesn't like eggplant ate this up! She really liked it... Would definitely make it again!

Hummus III
Very easy and simple to make. Just follow the recipe! You can add your own ingredients to give it a special flair: roasted red pepper, pesto, garlic, etc. Some photos don't do this recipe justice. Make sure you save some of the canned juice to thin it out as you are blending.

Banana Cake VI
After seeing all the reviews, had to make and chime in. I made the recipe with no changes, so it's fair. It's moist, easy to make, and tasty. BUT I think that it's a little on the heavy side, like a bread. The frosting was good, the cream cheese taste was a bit strong for the banana cake, so I added in more powdered sugar to the remainder of the frosting. As far as the cake, i'd probably keep the recipe, but still am searching for one that is a bit less dense. I didn't think it was too sweet as some had mentioned. I'm not sure if sticking it in the freezer does anything for the cake if you are going to eat it within a couple of days or that day anyways. All it does is bring your freezer temp down and defrosts some items. It didn't cool the entire cake either. I did have to bake mine for 1 hour and 25 minutes at 275 degrees. I don't live in high altitude, and I do have an oven thermometer.
