Slow Cooker Venison Burritos

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2013
These are fantastic, I've made them a bunch of times. What a great way to use up venison; it really gets rid of the gamey taste.

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
So incredibly easy. I'm disappointed in myself for buying crappy store-made bread for so long. I did screw up though and left the dough seam side up, so it tore and looked odd. I believe this also caused it to loose it's fluffiness the next day, but it still tasted good. I may experiment with mixing in a little whole wheat flour next time to make it healthier.

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
Great taste, and didn't rise like crazy which is one of the things I hate about regular pizza dough. Great idea to mix the garlic and basil right into the dough. Combine this with the exquisite pizza sauce recipe!

Coquito

Excellent. Approved by my Puerto Rican girlfriend! I may use just a little less rum next time though, because it's very prominent.

Schweinebraten Pork Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2012
Excellent. I difnt have any hard cider, so I put a bottle of beer and some regular cider. Let that marinate overnight. Then put the roast, fat side up, and surrounded it with carrots, celery, potatoes, onions, and apple slices. Came out moist and tender with a great caramelized outside.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2012
Excellent. I was surprised at how good this came out. Just be careful how many of these you eat, I made myself sick. There's a lot of fat between the oil and soup.

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2012
Fantastic. Really does make great, juicy chicken. The one issue is you cannot cook this over high heat, the brown sugar will burn almost right away. Cook longer over lower heat.

These came out great. It really did taste like beef. I made some tzatziki sauce with garlic powder, cubed cucumber, greek yogurt, and sour cream. Delicious!!!

Maple Baked Pork Loin Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2012
Excellent glaze. I really liked the taste. Just be aware there's quite a lot of maple syrup, use less if you don't like it so sweet.

Fresh Tomato Basil Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2012
Delicious. Very simple. I got 22 pounds of "second" tomatoes at the local farmers market for $8. It took a long time to seed and peel all of these tomatoes. I decided to make the sauce smooth, so I put the tomatoes in the blender after seeding and peeling. I didn't get enough water out, so it took close to 3 hours to get the right constancy. You can add a can or 2 of tomato paste to thicken it up. I ended up with a little more than 1 gallon of finished sauce; used some for dinner divided up the rest into quart freezer bags and froze.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2012
Absolutely fantastic. I cut the ingredients in half for one loaf. I've used fresh and frozen blueberries and didn't notice a difference. I've made this a bunch of times now so I can comment on making it healthier. First, if you use whole wheat flour, do half whole wheat and half white. All whole wheat doesn't taste right. You can get away with 2/3 whole wheat also. Second, you can't really overdo the zucchini. I always use one medium sized one and grate it. If you want it to totally disappear in the bread, puree it. Otherwise you'll see little flecks in the bread. Third, use applesauce instead of oil. It tastes better, and doesn't get as soggy after a day or so. It's also much healthier. Finally, store it in the fridge. It goes bad fast in the heat, and if you made it with whole wheat flour, it'll spoil even faster. It's not as good cold but you can always zap it in the microwave for 15 seconds.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: May 3, 2012
This came out awesome. The meat was very tender and moist. I cooked it in the oven; it was hard to get it to stand and it actually tipped over at one point. Fortunately, it was in a pan so there wan't a huge mess. Also, I was using a frozen roaster chicken. I let it thaw in the fridge for 3 days and it was still partially frozen, so give it longer.

Taco Seasoning I

Excellent taco seasoning mix- I omit the salt altogether. There's enough coming from other sources that I don't need to add extra.

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2013
Tasted great. Nice crispy skin and moist inside. However, what a mess it created! The high heat made the fat sizzle, and coated the oven with grease, which then started smoking. The whole house filled up with smoke and set off the smoke detector! And the oven will take awhile to clean. I'm not sure if it will come out the same covered in aluminum foil, but I'll have to do that next time.

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
Excellent. My only change is the meatballs take a full 30 minutes to cook; they were still partially raw after 20 minutes. Also, make sure you have plenty of sauce on hand. The bread soaks up a lot. The baguette we got was rather large, so a full sub was four meals worth.

Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
Excellent. I made this with red peppers, since I much prefer them over green peppers when cooked. The filling was just the right amount with a little extra rice added in. I didn't have the time, but I would recommend cooking the meat with garlic and onions mentioned in other reviews; my meat was a little bland.
