Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
Fantastic! I loved this. I followed the recommendations in the previous comment, using beef broth instead of water and doubling the italian dressing mix, and using a chuck roast instead of a rump roast. I also omitted the salt, since the broth was salty enough. This made fantastic sandwiches, and also made awesome soup... just added steamed carrots and potatoes, and used the broth/meat. I'll definitely be making this again!!

Chicken and Chinese Vegetable Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
Wow, this is fantastic! It tastes just like takeout! Thank you so much for saving us money by being able to make it ourselves. A note on the leftovers: the cornstarch will make the sauce into basically "ooblek". No matter how much I reheated it I couldn't get it to turn liquid again. Still, mixed and mashed into the rice it still made great leftovers.

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
Fantastic! My girlfriend couldn't stop raving about this. I've made this twice, and the second time it marinated overnight... I found the soy sauce taste just a little too overwhelming. A 1 1/2 hr soaking time seemed perfect. I wrapped them in a little foil tent, put a slice of lemon on top, and cooked them in the oven. Perfection!!

Tangy Sirloin Strips

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
Fantastic! I didn't have any bacon or molasses, but it still came out fantastic! I would also recommended adding lemon juice to the marinade, it helps to tenderize the meat. I will definitely be making this again. There wasn't enough to go around the table!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
Wow! This came out much better than expected. It looked pretty nasty and wasn't getting thicker towards the end, but it all came out great, and tasted awesome. Also, I wouldn't recommend adding any additional salt. The chicken bullion and ham make it more than salty enough.

Cranberry Nut Bread II

Came out great. I used orange extract in place of the zest, and it had a great orange flavor. Nice and moist. Had to check a couple of stores to find frozen cranberries.

Oven-Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
Wow, these came out fantastic! I was a little apprehensive, since it seemed too simple. I didn't add butter and they were still great. I used Stovers stuffing, and the chunks were a little too big; I would recommended crushing them up into almost a powder.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
I think I left the chicken in a little too long because it was slightly mushy. Still, it tasted great. It was hot enough to leave my nose running for awhile. I did put the chicken on round rolls, but it was too messy to pick up, and I had to eat it with a fork. I made it again with 3 large fresh breasts. After 4 1/2 hours it was ready to shred, so I shredded it best I could and let it soak for another hour. This time put it on sub rolls and added coleslaw. Fantastic! I plan on making this for a Superbowl party, putting it on sub rolls and adding lettuce, tomato, and blue cheese. Tastes just like wings but so much easier to make! Also, Franks makes a cayenne pepper sauce. After shredding, I added a little of this since I like it pretty spicy.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2011
Very yummy. I did not add butter and they still tasted great. Served with steamed carrots and potatoes on the side. The chicken was very tender and flaky. A note on using chicken broth instead of water: the cream of chicken soup is already salty, and using 16oz of chicken broth made it pretty salty. Not horribly bad, but very noticeable. I would recommend using low sodium chicken broth.

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Fantastic. Cooked in the slow cooker on low for 9 hours. Only used one roast and half the other ingression and it barely fit in my 3qt crockpot. The roast came out melt in your mouth good. Served up on lightly toasted kaiser rolls with lots of spicy brown mustard.

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
Great. Frozen fillets were on sale, so I got those, and rubbed them in olive oil instead of butter. Was trying to make it quicker also so I used powdered garlic. Put the frozen fillets in little foil tents/packets for the amount recommended in the recipe, and it was excellent! Very flaky with tons of flavor. Make sure you have lots of lemon to squeeze on it.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2011
Very good. As mentioned in another review, it is a lot like Wendy's chili, but with more flavor and not mushy. I used 93% lean hamburger, which came in a 2.25lb package (I used all of it), diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce, and drained the "sauce" from the kidney beans, as well as drained the fat off the hamburger. I added a cup of water since it seemed a little dry and I like it slightly soupy. Serve up with some cornbread for an excellent meal!

Came out great. I'm not a fan of onions, but they tasted great in this recipe. I put it over some brown rice. Next time I think I'd serve up with some steamed potatoes and carrots.

Sweet and Spicy Sweet Potatoes

I followed the directions exactly, and mine burned. Not really sure what I did wrong, I put them on a dark colored cookie sheet, so maybe that made a difference. Still, 5 stars for the taste, they tasted almost like awesome seasoned french fries.

Baked Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
These came out great! I cooked up 10 wings, and cut one breast into 5 pieces. Followed the recommendations of others and dried the chicken out. The wings were pretty good, could have used just a tad more spice. But the tenders were fantastic! I highly recommend you make this recipe with some tenders. It's a must have. Tip: When the wings are done they're "dry". Make sure you add the Frank's sauce to the outside of them to make them wet.

Fantastic. The marinade tasted and smelled excellent. The cedar smoke really got into the fish good. I found a 2 pack of cedar planks at Lowes for $6.88.
