Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
When I offered to bring a dish to yesterday's party yesterday, this is what was requested. (I brought them to a previous party and they were a big hit.) The only changes I make are I bake at 350 for two minutes. To make them a little fancier, I melt white chocolate chips in a baggie, snip the corner, (very tiny snip), and squeeze squiggles on the top of each turtle. I used gluten-free pretzels, since my friend is intolerant, and no one else knew the difference!

Magic Wands

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
As another suggested, I melted white chocolate in microwave and used silicone brush to apply to pretzel sticks 3/4 of the way down the stick. Rolled in halloween sprinkles. Bought halloween cello snack bags with twist ties at dollar store. Perfect for halloweeners and my grandchildren! Simple but impressive looking!

Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
For years I made a similar stew in a pressure cooker. This stew was even better. I took the advice of many reviewers with a couple other twists, and it turned out perfectly. I browned the beef dredged in flour, salt and pepper/garlic seasoning in olive oil then added chopped onion and 3 garlic cloves until soft. I combined water, 1/2 cup of powdered french onion beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, 3 bay leaves and beef mixture in a covered bean pot and placed in oven at 350 degrees for about 2-1/2 hours. Added potatoes, carrots, a sliced sweet potato and 3 sliced celery stalks & baked for about another hour. Beef fell apart and vegetables were perfectly cooked. The additional seasonings and stock combined with flour made a perfect, flavorful gravy. To thicken a little more I added a small amount of instant potato flakes as someone suggested. Excellent on a cold day!

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
My first attempt at making pumpkin pie from scratch. It was excellent! Pumpkin is my husband's favorite pie, so I made it as a treat for him. Bought one "large" sugar pumpkin and one small. It made 2 pies with 2 cups left over to freeze for Thanksgiving! I will probably use this recipe as my standard from here on. I baked the pumpkin longer than the recipe called, and a food processer allowed me to blend 2 cups easily at once.
