About this Cook
I am a happy wife and mom of three young children. I love Toronto, great shopping, great restaurants, that is, when the husband and I actually get a chance to go out and eat! I am a stay-at-home mom which gives me the luxury of being able to cook great meals for my family every day. Love the cottage in the summer and family time!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook italian food, something about the flavours of tomatoes and cheeses and basil just makes my mouth water.I also like to bake and think I'm pretty good at it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband is Italian, it's a little hard to follow in his mom's footsteps but I try my best. My family are real meat and potato fans, I like to try and vary the dishes as much as possible.
My cooking triumphs
hmmmm. I made some awesome stuffed artichokes in the tradition of my husband's italian grandmother. Think that they rivalled the finest. I feel like anytime my husband or kids lick their plate clean, that's a triumph!
My cooking tragedies
Had a few along the way. Always learn from them, though. Roasts have always been a bit tricky for me, but with a little tweaking and lots of advice (especially from this website) I've gotten, dare I say it, pretty good!

Best Ever Party Appetizer
So, I made this for a girls' party and it was a huge success! I put room temp goat cheese and all ingredients in a bowl (crushed the garlic), mixed together, and let sit overnight. The slicing of the goat cheese would have been too tricky, and the truth is, it tastes better all blended anyways. I'll be adding this one to my regular repertoire!

Bananas Foster II
I had this in Cuba for the first time, where the rum and bananas are plentiful and delish! I recently remembered it and was impressed by how yummy it is! Simple recipe, almost always have the ingredients on hand. I should note, the last bananas on the pan were a bit mushy and the sauce thickened into a candy-ish sauce, so when the bananas are warm, take everything off the heat.

Red Velvet Cupcakes
I consider myself to be a great baker, and thought I'd give these a try. They were good, moist, but not overly flavourful. I'll admit, I'm generally not a huge fan of red velvet, but I did find these kind of non-descript, neither chocolatey or vanilla-y, just sort of bland. My family, whom I always test out recipes on, felt the same. I think if you have a "thing" for red velvet, these might do it for you, but they didn't for me.
