Kalamata Olive and Garlic Bread
About this Cook
Every since I went on a Wine Tasting/Cooking trip to Italy I have loved trying to recreate the dishes I prepared while I was there.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake desserts and try new recipes. I also love to try recipes that use different types of Pasta.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I guess this would be when I was young and my whole family would gather together to make and decorate Christmas cookes, lots and lots of Christmas cookies. Today my kids tell me it isn't Christmas unless I make sugar cookies all decorated with colored icing.
My cooking tragedies
When I was very young I tried to make homemade bread and a tray of cinnimon rolls like my mother used to make. I followed the recipe but used boiling water to dissolve the yeast. Of course that killed the yeast, nothing would rise even after leaving in the oven for hours. I didn't want my father to see all the flour I had wasted when nothing turned out so I told my brother to give the failed bread to the chickens to eat. My brother came back into the house announcing that the bread was so bad even the chickens wouldn't eat it.

Herbed Dumplings
Best dumplings ever. This will be the only recipe for dumplings for me from now on.

Kalamata Olive and Garlic Bread
Very good recipe, but I too made the recipe by hand, didn't use a bread machine or food processer and it turned out great. I also mixed the olives and minced garlic right into the dough and decided to bake my bread on a Pizza stone and I love the way it turned out, more like Foccocia Bread. I spread some olive oil on the pizza stone, sprinkled a little cornmeal on the stone then spread out the dough. I brushed the top with a bit of olive oil then added chopped fresh Rosemary on top just before I put it in the oven. Only thing I would do different is use less salt.

Garlic Shrimp Linguine
I tried this recipe for the first time yesterday for my family. Even following the recommendations from some of the other members, I found the recipe lacked something. I found it pretty bland but with a few experiments I'm sure I could use it as a base recipe.
