About this Cook
Im an 18 year old girl thats loved to cook ever since her brother tought her to make scrambled eggs. I have never taken a class but I learn from my mom every time she lights the stove or preheats the oven. I am a food network junkie and feel all warm and fuzzy inside when the food I make makes others happy.
My favorite things to cook
I am half mexican and though its not common practice in my family I am a vegetarian. My favorite thing to make is vegetarian chorizo with eggs and home made trotilla chips its a recipe my brother made that i share any time we have company. Everyone loves it and requests it whenever theres chorizo in the frige.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I would have to say my favorite family cooking tradition is this mexican bread that has a small doll baked inside it. Its delicious and the person who finds the doll in their peice has to through the next family party.
My cooking triumphs
My mom is portuguese and has a fabulous portuguese cook book and one day i decided to make her baked friters. I bake often and didnt think they would be that difficult, much to my dismay i was wrong. The recipe called for a double boiler which I have though unfortunatly it was to small to hold the custard so my mom helped me mickey mouse it by resting a slightly smaller pot on top of pot of boiling water. Then the custard still wasnt coming to the right consistency but eventually I fixed the problem. It took a lot of work but the end product was well worth it. They were fantastic.
My cooking tragedies
I've never really had any total flops while cooking but my brother is very adventuous. Once he decide to make spaghetti and make his own sauce. Sounds fine right? Yeah i thought so too but he tried to mexicanize it by adding cilantro and i couldnt even tell you what else. It was a disaster!
