My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2013
This is the same recipe you can find many places, including I think the Jolly-time website. That being said it is delicious. Never have made any changes.

Creamiest Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2013
This was perfect. I doubled the recipe as I was bringing it to an event. I've only made rice pudding a few times over the years, and it always seems like there should be more rice when you're making it, but then it kind of explodes...Do have to watch, and stir...good thing to make when you are doing other things in the general vicinity. Stirred it every 8 to 10 minutes. The double recipe made 5 quarts of rice pudding. The sweetness would have been perfect for me, but I was bringing it to a kid event, so I added a little sugar at the end and stirred in. Lots of compliments and requests for the recipe.

Patron® Mojito

Classic Mojito, very refreshing. You can use 7-up too instead of club soda. But this is the classic. Love it!

Bill's Blue Cheese Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2012
Amazing, sooooo good. Makes a lot, about 3 cups. The only thing i did different was I threw it in the blender with a splash of water to make it smooth and the chunks tiny. I had tried to hand crumble it, but it was still too large for my liking. Also used low fat sour cream and mayo... still amazing

Pistachio Brittle

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
I made this recipe as written, the only exception was adjusting the time. I think it's wrong to judge this recipe harshly based on microwave times, as all microwaves are different, you need to watch. I found when I finished the 3 minutes it was already turning amber so I just added all my ingredients and stirred. I did not put it back in. It came out brittle, It's a little more opaque caramelly looking than I thought it should be, and I would have preferred double the amount of pistachios. Taste delicious. There are many versions of this recipe out there, including one published by the NY Times. The Times recipe has instructions to cook the sugar even longer.

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
wonderful simplicity. I added my flour to the celery and onion before the broth, so I didn't use the second amount of butter listed. I also used a can of evaporated milk rather than 2 cups milk, as I wanted to freeze the extra, and that freezes better. Then I threw in a handful of shredded cheddar, because I had it and wanted it a little thicker. Tasted great both ways though...

I love that you don't have to cook all at once. I add some cranberries too. Really enjoyed.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
Not a fan. Doubled the recipe using 1/2 oil AND 1/2 butter. put it in a 9 x 13 pan. Directions say 20 - 25 minutes, so I figured with a doubled recipe I'd set my timer for 25 minutes, too late already dry. They were tasteless. Tried to salvage them by drizzling chocolate on them but it didn't help. I would have given less stars but I'm am being generous as if they weren't overcooked they might have tasted better.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
This was well loved at Thanksgiving. I always make the pecan pie at Thanksgiving, had lost my original recipe I used years ago that used all maple syrup. Never have been a fan of the Karo recipes. Thought I would try this because it didn't use corn syrup and had several recommendations from Chefs. Everyone seemed to love it. The only thing I did different was to use about a cup and a half of pecan halves that I just gave a rough chop to. They were still big pieces. It looked a little different (color-wise) coming out of the oven, but the proof is in the taste. Better than the overly sweet syrup kind.

Marrakesh Vegetable Curry

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
One of my alltime favorite dishes... have made this many times. You can switch up some of the veggies, although I always use the sweet potato and spinach. Usually the carrots, have also used fresh green beans and zucchini. I use craisins instead of raisins...personal preference.

Zesty Porcupine Meatballs

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
Really enjoyed this and it was quick to make. I browned the meatballs in the same pot as I cooked them with the sauce. Sort of a sweet n' sour taste. The only thing I added was a sprinkling of Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herb seasoning mix.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2004
Wonderful recipe. Perfect moistness and cooked perfectly in exact time listed. I did add vanilla and may try some cinnamon next time. It did seem like alot of bananas but it had a great flavor. Brought it to share at church and everyone loved it. UPDATE: Forgot I had made this recipe before, made it again today. Still really like.Used 6 bananas. Not overly sweet. I also added nuts. Brought it to a neighbor's house to share. Tried to leave with the leftovers and was stopped at the door :)
