Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
I thought this was very tasty! I had to make cupcakes and didnt have any box mix or milk in the house so I picked this one. Also they were going to be Halloween cupcakes so I thought the orange taste would be perfect. They came out moist and yummy! 27 minutes in my oven for 24 cupcakes and they are perfect. You can fill up the cupcake batter almost to the top, they dont rise much. Batter very watery but they taste great!

Ok but very heavy. They were fluffy but not "light" and fluffy.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
Great! But needs onion! A small vidalia added makes all the difference. You dont even need the cheese on top, just serve the baguettes with the bruschetta in a bowl so people can help themselves!

Cranberry Pecan Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
Very tasty! I used probably 1.5 cups cranberries and almond extract but everything else the same. Will make again if I ever find cranberries at the back of my freezer like I did today. ;-)

Rosemary Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2005
SUPERB!! I was skeptical by the ingredients in the sauce but we absolutely loved this! It makes a pretty big loaf. You deifnitely need the loaf pan with it, I just formed a loaf and put it in the 9x13 pan and of course the sauced drizzled off the loaf and burned on the pan, but it didnt ruin the loaf. Hubbie didnt even know it was turkey!!! SOOOO Good, a keeper in our house!

Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2005
Way too much dip! This will make 2 huge bowls of dip, definitely cut the recipe in half for just one bowl, and it will be enough. (or cut out 1 cream cheese and 1 sour cream)Too much sour cream and/or cream cheese, it made the flavor so bland you cant even taste the spinach or artichokes! I saved it by adding kosher salt and about 5 sauteed garlic cloves. DEFINITELY needed the fresh garlic! My guests loved it, I thought it was just OK. I will be trying another recipe for this instead of making this one again

Sherry Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
I made this in the slow cooker and served over egg noodles YUMMY!! I browned the chops on high, mixed all other ingredients and layered it in the cooker. Chop-apple mix-chop-apple mix etc. I also added 1 c beef stock and omitted the butter. Added a little cornstarch mixed with water at the end and had a BEAUTIFUL gravy. Its a little more mushy in the slow cooker but it was so DELICIOUS!! Just dont mix it at all and the chops will stay together.

Grandma's Moist Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2003
This was OK. Not great. The boxed is better. I follwed it exactly. I did slightly overcook it as at 25 minutes it still seemed wet. Might try again and cook for less time. The taste is just OK.

Mary's Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 18, 2003
This was, by far the BEST CHEESECAKE I have ever had, nevermind that I have made. Even with the heavy-sounding ingredients, it was so light and fluffy. I used a 10 inch springform and it was coming over the top, (puffed up, didnt spill out) so I think a 9 inch would be way too small. I took it to a clients house for dinner and she had SECONDS. I put braised apricots on top (Cut them in 1/2 and put unsalted butter and brown sugar on top -under the broiler for 5 minutes) and I was the hit of the night!! This will be the recipe I will use FOREVER! I think New Yokr style is a bad adjective though, NY style is much drier, this is quite moist.

Deep Chocolate Raspberry Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2003
This was so dry! I was so dissapointed. Granted, I do not bake cakes often, but I tried this one for a special occasion and we ate 2 slices and I decided the rest wasnt worth the calories and threw it out! I followed the recipe exactly, I just thought it was very dry and not that tasty.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2002
FABULOUS! Of course with the alterations I made I might as well submit a new recipe, but here is what I did. Forget the whole "oven thing" and use 2 skillets, one for the chops and one for the apples. For the chops, I marinated them in salt, pepper, 1 TBL minced garlic and about 1/4 c. sauterne (white) cooking wine for only about 15 minutes. I then sauteed them while making the sauce. For the sauce, I sauteed 2 small onions in butter until carmelized. Then added the other sauce ingredients -doubled (except apples). I just cooked that till tender and thought it needed some more "juice" so I added about 1/4 c. of apple cider, then a pinch of cornstarch to thicken. Served chops over brown rice and sauce over chops, died and went to heaven. Also, picky boyfriend loved it ;-)

Lemon Thyme Swordfish with Asparagus

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2002
As I was making this I was preparing myself not to like it as it seemed odd but I was pleasantly surprised!! The tastes really do work well together. I didnt like though that I could faintly taste the cottage cheese. I think I would prefer this with sour cream instead and that is what I will try next time. I also wanted to make it on the grill so I just marinated the fish for 1/2 hour in the lemon juice, bay leaf and I added garlic. I also think the sauce would taste better with fresh herbs. BUT all in all, a good starting point!!!!

Sweet and Gooey Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2002
My boyfriend and I loved these! I followed the ingredients exactly, except I didnt have 2 hours to cook them so I cooked them at 375 for 30 mins covered and 15 mins uncovered and they came out perfect! The flavor is excellent and tenderizes the meat beautifully, "fell off the bone". Will absolutely make these again!

Alienated Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2002
I was so dissapointed with these. I love blueberry muffins, these were not great. Is it because I used butter instead of margerine? I hate margerine, so I used butter. They didnt "puff up" very well and all of the berries did go to the bottom as others had said. I followed the recipe exactly except for using butter. I wont make these again.
