I'm a 40 year old mother of two looking to adapt a healthier, more active lifestyle. I've taken a greater interest in cooking clean and healthy meals that satisfy the body as well as the soul. I want to impart a sense of health and responsibility in my kids so that they grow up knowing how to fuel their bodies, minds, and souls as well.

My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is from New Zealand and makes the most amazing Pavlova that my brother, sister and I all drool over. One weekend we were all at my mom's house and she brings out a large, square Pav and asks me to cut us each a piece. Knowing what the inevitable was, I decided to split the entire Pav into quarters. As I was videotaping the mayhem of each person scrambling for their "share", my sister's fork attempted to sneak some of the toppings off of my piece, which was met with my fork being used as a weapon to defend my share and some shaky camera footage! We are serious about our favorite dessert and had lots of laughs about how far we'd go to protect our portion!!
My cooking triumphs
Learning new recipes that are outstanding, super easy and super tasty! I'm proud of my spice selection, using heat to kick up certain dishes, and experimenting with fresh herbs grown in my kitchen and on my back porch.
My cooking tragedies
According to my kids, most anything healhty I put in front of them! Ha!! They may not like my homemade meat sauce now, but one of these days, they'll remember it and wish they had some!
