Dessert Crepes

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
Outstanding crepe recipe and easy to make. Since I am using the crepes for a dessert (w/dulce de leche), I added 2 tsps of vanilla extract. I whisked the ingredients in a bowl and then poured the mixture in the blender to obtain a cohesive mixture free of lumps. Thank you to reviewer "D. Hi." who mentioned the blender-method on her review. I made twelve 8" crepes.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2010
Finally a pie that isn't overtly sweet! I really like this recipe. It is true, the pie doesn't look like the traditional pecan pie with a nice layer of pecans at top. But this isn't a traditional recipe! The fact that it doesn't call for corn syrup is what I hold this recipe to be superior among others. The flavor is buttery and sweet without being overpowering. I doubled on the pecans which cut back the sweetness even further and made the pie more dense. I also followed other reviewer's advise and baked at 350 for 15 mins, then lowered the temperature to 300 for 45 mins.

Almond Shortbread I

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly and got average shortbread cookies. The taste and texture are nothing spectacular. I found that the dough was crumbly and difficult to work with, so other reviewer's recommendation to cut back 1/2 a cup of flour is very wise. There is no way I could use cookie cutters with the dough because it was impossible to roll it out. I instead made little balls and flattened them on the cookie sheet. Unimpressive.

Golden Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
Very easy to make. Definitely has that buttery flavor I love about pecan baked goods. It is important to let the pie cool and then refrigerate for two hours before attempting to serve, or it will not hold it's shape and turn into a gooey mess. I would suggest to double up on the pecans to cut the sweetness of each bite. I was hesitant to try the recipe because it calls for corn syrup. I went ahead and tried it and later found a no corn syrup recipe at allrecipes.com. I will try that recipe next time and perhaps cut some of the sweetness out of it.

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
Excellent recipe, very easy to make. Time consuming, but well worth it! Put on some music and make tasty treats! I didn't deep fry, so I had to flip the poppers over, and yes, the filling oozes out, but it's not that bad. I did not use bacon, just the cream cheese and cheddar, and they came out wonderfully.

Sour Cream Raisin Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2010
Unfortunately I did not like this pie. It is very sweet, had too many raisins, and the custard was not appealing at all for my taste. It was very easy to make and the brown sugar meringue is something to keep in mind for other recipes.
